Just ordered a M&P 9c and looking for free information!

I prefer the single clip, hybrid IWB holsters like Raw Dogs. However, that's for lighter, sub-compact guns like the Shield and Glock 42. I wear my carry guns around the 2-3 o'clock position. I don't have a t-shirt between the holster and my holster. I do have one Kydex (without the leather) single clip holster (Glock 42), but haven't worn it enough to know if I won't like it next to my skin. I THINK I will prefer leather next to my skin......

Are folks happy using a single clip IWB hybrid holster like mine above for the heavier M&P 9c? The loaded 9c is maybe 6 oz heavier, and a little larger than the Shield, so my guess is there is not a significant difference. At least I hope not. I have a two clip IWB for my Springfield XDS, but I much prefer a single clip model if it's practical. The single clip models go on and off so much easier. I am lazy, what can I say? :o But there are a ton of good two clip models available if folks are happier with two clip models on their M&P 9 compacts.

Thanks for your ideas.........

I use the single clip for the smaller guns ( Shield ) and double clip for my M&P9c. Lately I have been thinking about trying a single clip for my Sig P320 but I am still researching this idea. One thing you mentioned that may be of concern is wearing a leather holster without a T shirt. Besides rubbing on your skin how will sweating affect the leather ? If you want leather around your gun Garrett Industries makes a Kydex holster that is leather lined and is very well made, its pretty much the best of both worlds, the single clip is called the Silent Thunder. I dont think the M&P9c is to big or heavy for a single clip holster which is why I am looking in that direction myself. They are definitely easier to use . Just my thoughts , hope this helps. J L

One of the best:

About the SGUSA AIWB holster ? StealthGearUSA Ventilated, concealed carry gun holsters

I like the N82 Tactical Professional model and have found it to be the most comfortable IWB holster for me. The leather backing completely isolates any part of the gun from rubbing your skin so wearing an undershirt is not needed. I wear it all day and don't even notice it there.

A couple weeks ago I wore mine 12-14 hours a day while driving on vacation..I never thought I'd find an iwb holster I could stand to wear more than an hour or two. Just like a good pair of shoes, it gets more comfortable the more you wear it.

I have a Crossbreed Appendix Carry in natural horse hide for my 9c.

After breaking it in for a day or two it got very comfortable, barely noticeable. Fits snugly under my dad belly.

As you can see the clip is on one side of the belt buckle (gig line) and the pistol is on the other.

+2 On the N82 Pro holster. It is the only holster I use for my 9c. Being a woman I am not in the habit of wearing an undershirt. I find my N82 holsted by far the most comfortable than any other I have tried. Even if I am sweating, my gun stays dry. Between the soft suede outside layer and the supple inside leather layer there is neoprene (stuff wetsuits are made out of). It not only adds a nice layer of cushioning, it also makes it sweat proof. No part of the gun touches my skin.

Looks a bit bulky for my tastes, but I can see where all that leather would spread out the "imprint" into one's belly/back, and add to the support of that single clip. But the much less leather on my Raw Dog seems to work fine for me, and I like its much more compact feel. But I'm unsure my smaller footprint and the single clip can take the 9c's weight.

So far the leather and my sweat using my Raw Dog holster isn't a problem. But I don't wear my holsters more than maybe 4-5 hours at a time....might be different if I were carrying it more than that. Thanks for your info on the Garrett hybrid. I checked it out and the clip looks pretty small, but if it works for a 1911 I'm sure it'd work for a 9 Compact! A bit pricier than I wanted however, I want to keep the price closer to $40.

Thanks. I can see how that would be a benefit....about none of the gun touching my skin. So far I've only carried smaller guns, and it's not really been an issue for me, but the 9c is bigger and it's something I must consider.

I'm a big fan of the single clip. I call it the "grab-n-go" system. Check out high noon holsters-bare asset or Mr.softy. made in America, lifetime warranty and only $30 !! I have one for my 45c and like it :D

Nah, gotta be a molded holster for me. Price is certainly good on the High Noon models you mentioned. They do have much more expensive ones that look like they'd work for me, but cost is always an issue with me.....my Scottish heritage, what can I say? :o

I use a Bianchi Allusion (model 25746); I've used it for about two years now and love it. It's made for the M&P but I purchased it long before I had my first M&P. Originally bought it because it was the only holster that fit my Beretta 92 M9A1 Compact, and I quickly found out that my Glocks, Springfields, and Sigs fit it pretty well also. The side of the holster that is against the body is very cushioned, no exposed screws, etc, so it's very comfortable. I typically carry at the 2-3 o'clock position as well. Now that I have an M&P 40c, it's perfection. The holster is already broken in, and I have the gun that it was made for.

Thanks, but that looks like an OWB holster, not a IWB holster. I have several of that (OWB) style, mainly those sold by Dillon. They are good, comfortable holsters, and like you said, they seem to fit a variety of handguns. I use mine with Sigs and S&W (the all metal, old, OLD! models) But they don't conceal as well as IWB models, so I'm gonna stick to that style for now.

It's definitely an IWB holster, not OWB. I wouldn't be able to carry using it if it were OWB. Here is a pic with it using my Beretta 92 M9A1 Compact ...

For my double stacks in strong side IWB I prefer the two belt connections from either an all leather holster or a hybrid style because of the extra stability that connection offers. I also like concealed OWB when the clothing I am wearing allows for it.

I do use a single clip all kydex IWB holster even with something the size of a double stack 45 (30S) and choose it for times when I know moisture from weather or excessive sweating will happen. Since kydex is impervious to moisture and no drying time is needed it does not swell like can happen with a leather holster. It's very handy when I know I'll need to take the holster off and on while I am away from the house because it is so much easier to do than the dual connection holsters are.

Find with the single clip kydex holster it tends to need an occasional adjustment since it "walks" on the belt line a bit with body movement. I have used them all day and just a few hours and overall find that for me the all kydex IWB holsters are not as comfortable as the all leather or hybrid holsters, but they are still a very viable mode of carry and I use them often, especially in the warmer months.

It's good to have options as far as holsters go.
