My wife and I ride our bikes a lot together, and we carry for protection. I am struggling in finding a holster that I am comfortable using when I ride. I am paranoid that my Shield may slip out. Does anyone have suggestions?

Here is what I am using currently

My brother and his wife ride their bike constantly. He carries a Shield and she carries a BG, both carry in a Sticky holster. Many thousands of miles, and never an issue with guns dropping out. If you want to try one, send me a PM. I've got one I'll send you to try.

Good Luck and good shooting. :D

Any kydex will work, but I prefer those with adjustable retention. Bladetech Nano is one of my favorites. I would go with a holster with snap belt loops instead of a metal spring clip.

I have loved my Comp-tac MTAC IWB hybrid. It has adjustable retention and the Shield kind of melts away IWB with this on. It's tuckable, so that's another layer of keeping the gun retained. Retention is good.

Any decent leather or kydex holster you trust off the bike should be trustworthy on the bike. In addition your riding jacket provides an extra layer of protection against your pistol working its' way out of the holster.

Are you looking for OWB or IWB?

Currently I have a Blade-Tech Total Eclipse and a Nano. The TE has much better retention, but the sweat guard does not cover the rear corner of the sight and I do not like the cant adjustment mechanism. The Nano has less retention than I prefer and rides slightly low (there's not enough clearance for my middle knuckle and it hits my belt when drawing.) I have tried on a Comp-Tac CTAC and a Crossbreed hybrid and hated them both.

I have no issues and about 40,000 motorcycle miles on my Shadow 7 holster from Safariland, in which I carry a 60-10 3" J-frame revolver.

Please consider a shoulder holster. I have used one for years while riding and never had an issue. I see you wear a vest, too. Some vests have an internal pocket for concealment. Just a thought. Ride safe, sir.

For the Shield, my husband uses the AlienGear CloakTuck IWB in a 4 oclock position on and off his motorcycle. Doesn't move or print.

I use a Kydex holster, IWB type. This works well with my motorcycle riding pants which has an abbreviated belt built in. I could not use an OWB holster with my riding pants belt. Having an IWB requires that I wear my shirts outside my pants, which bothers my sense of style  but I'm getting used to it. My current motorcycle carry pistol is a Glock 42 simply because it's so easily concealed and light, but still has a decent size that I can shoot comfortably. It's not too far off the Shield's dimensions.
No matter which holster you get, please ensure that it will stay put.....so as not to come out when you withdraw the pistol.

Aerostich Darien

I have a feeling from you pic that my riding gear may be different from yours. However, I really like my Aerostich Darien all weather riding coat. It has a vertical zipped pocket on the left side that my J frame drops down into. Very easy access (with summer weight gloves) and no need for any holster. However a holster is whole lot cheaper!

I'm on a bike most days of the week - I generally use a High Noon Mr. Softy holster worn cross draw between my belt and jeans. Actually went to this set up several years ago as a result of my riding. The shirt doesn't ride up this way (scaring the soccer moms) and I have access with either hand. The riding position on sport bikes and cruisers actually locks the gun in rather than leaving it hanging out - and it doesn't irritate the thigh of your passenger :-j

Thank you all for your suggestions. I did end up getting a safariland holster for the my M&P Shield. Got it for a good price and the pistol stays put.

I am thinking of getting the Alien Gear holster for the Shield as well, and I want to get a shoulder holster for the Model 10-7 snubby.

My vest does have gun pockets, but they concern me because the pistol rolls around in them and makes it difficult to quick draw. Plus the pockets is not an holster therefore I need to find a stick holster or something to keep the Shield in.

I don't have a shield, but for what it's worth...I ride a lot and love my sticky holsters for my Glock 43 and M&P compact and full sized. Also a fan of desantis cozy partner and mini slide for when I feel like dressing up.
