It sounds like a nice, first long ride, any pics? Now to planning your next one! 
The scenery isn't as dramatic here as the Rockies but there is a lot of good riding in the Appalachians with little roads everywhere.
I don't recall there being motorcycle only campgrounds when I've ridden in the west but there are a number of them around Deals Gap, Blue Ridge Parkway, north Georgia, NC, etc. and they're enjoyable to stay at with other riders. I just returned from Willville which is right off the BRP in VA.
A fun multi day ride can be riding to one staying the night then to the next on the following day.
