I am a transport driver for an automotive dealership. The dealership buys vehicles from other dealerships and we drivers take a van to the location and drive the vehicles back. This morning, we were leaving at 8:00 AM. Shortly before leaving I let our dog, Lacey, out to do her business. I finished getting ready and went out on the deck to call Lacey in. She looked like she had one of toys and shaking it viciously. I called her and then realized she had a skunk in her mouth. I went down into the yard to get her and just as I got to her, she gave the skunk one more big shake. What a smell. There wasn't much left of the skunk, and I put Lacey in the house. She made a beeline into my daughter's bedroom and rolled all over her bed and blankets. I decided to go to work and deal with it when I got back. When I got to work, someone said they smelled skunk. I admitted to what happened and I got a couple doses of Fabreeze. I wasn't very popular on the drive to get the vehicles. I am back home now, and Lacey has gotten four baths. My daughter's bedding is in the washer. I still have to pick up the dead skunk. So, how was your Saturday?

TRUST ME—

Doug—This chemist should have been awarded the Nobel Prize for this formula:

Chemist Paul Krebaum discovered a solution that changes the odorous thiols into odorless acids, thereby chemically neutralizing the skunk odor. The formula is: 1 quart of 3 percent hydrogen peroxide (fresh bottle), • ¼ cup of baking soda (sodium bicarbonate), and • 1-2 teaspoons of liquid dish soap.

Hahahahhahahaahhaahahahhaaa!!!!!!!

My experience with Dogs and skunks has always been at night, usually late summer or early fall.
Routine is before turning in,to let Pooch out for last call, but fail to see the black kitty with the white stripe.
Upsets the harmony of the house and delays turning in for a couple of hours.

As to the dog getting into the house, I couldn't take her around front because the door and garage doors were closed and locked. I didn't have leash to restrain her. I couldn't leave her in the yard because she wanted to get back to the skunk. I couldn't dispose of the skunk first because I did not have gloves. It was a bad day.

I am still laughing!!!

I've never had a dog catch a skunk...thank goodness, But my lab ol Harry caught a couple porcupines. I've caught a few skunks by hand...never got sprayed...but I think I am done catching them. You can use all those cleaning methods with peroxide etc etc. You will get most of the spray off...but not all. My daughter's dog caught quite a few...even after the high tech cleaners he stayed outside. He also caught lots of porcupines...lots! She finally gave the dog to a friend who does not live in porky country...But there are skunks aplenty so I hear. He always looked so forlorn after catching either. After getting sprayed...they all want to rub and roll the smell off. and they want to be your BEST friend. Don't open the door!

I can't help it but I have to laugh. Nothing personal! It sounds like time was of the essence but (sorry, I'm still laughing) but the tomato juice is the best "shampoo" for skunky dog that I've used. Get the cheap ***** and get several quart cans of it. Dog will drink what's left over and yinz can sit on the porch/deck/yard and laugh about it later. Of course you bought or have gin (I hate vodka) so yinz can howl all night!
