So, I have a Shield .40 and rather than carry it in my IWB holster I put it in my front pocket. It was actually pretty comfortable. Anyone else carry the Shield in their pocket??

Hope it has a safety. Otherwise, I believe that pocket carrying a striker fired pistol sans holster is unacceptably dangerous.

Taroman has a good point. If your Shield does not have a positive external safety, carry it in your pocket only with an empty chamber , if you must.

Even the PF9 is to big for my pockets, at least with any hope of a decent draw. If the Shield fits your pockets, go for it. Use a pocket holster though, and don't carry anything else in that pocket.

Thanks for posting

These guys make one of the best IWB holsters for the Shield. You can either go over the holster or tuck. I have fooled many people in many places with my 9mm Shield tucked right in plain sight.

Although not interested in their holsters, their magnetic gun mounts look very nice. Going to give them a try.

I used to have a nice 9mm Shield, but my wife runnedoff with it! Neither she nor I ever carry it in a pocket. Disclaimer...I don't like pocket carry for any gun.

Minimally, a holster that covers the trigger guard is a must if you do. The external safety is a damn fine idea as well. Too many good IWB holsters out there for the Shield that allow for safe carry/concealment and quick draw/reholster to put it in your pocket IMHO.

If you do, be consistent and be safe!

Right now, in Levi's, the Shield is riding in a Milt Sparks SS-II, as on me, it's too big to pocket carry. In cargo/tactical pants or shorts, the Shield (9mm, thumb safety) rides fine in an Uncle Mike or Sticky pocket holster.

I'd recommend you either get a pocket holster big enough to cover the OEM rear sight or radius the top. One pair of cargo short with a hole in the pocket was enough of a lesson for me  .

Good luck, plenty of choices out there.

With an empty chamber? May as well carry a hammer.
Carry in a pocket holster. That will safely cover the trigger.

Too big unless your HULK. pf 9 kELTEC IS THE LARGEST POCKET GUN.
Well... Call me HULK... a 5'7" 160Lb Hulk.
I can EASILY Front Pocket carry my Shield in most of my Pants, including my 'Relaxed Fit' Wrangler jeans with a Galco Pocket Protector holster.

I used to pocket carry a Shield. Some will find the Shield not suited for pocket carry, but others will be pleased with it. For me it is right on the edge for pocket carry, for size & weight. Even though I never had an issue with it, I found a few others that seem to carry better for me. My current rotation includes a PM9, G42 & a 442. . It's all about the holster and I'm a firm believer in the DeSantis Superfly. ;)

Maybe I just don't have the skills of others but I am not comfortable pocket carrying any gun without some kind of cover on the trigger. That is why I either use the 82Tactical IWB or even a cheap Blackhawk sleeve holster I got at Wal-Mart. It does not feel safe to me to just put the pistol in my Wranglers. I will never wear Levi's again. :-)

if you're gonna carry in your pocket, use a MIC holster or other trigger guard type of holster. They have a string that attaches to your belt. When you remove the gun, the string pulls off the guard... They work perfectly, and protect you from an accidental discharge.

P.S. they are super cheap

The Shield is a little too large for my comfort. The largest pocket carry for me is a Seecamp .380. I too like the Desantis pocket holster.
