Shield.......a pocket gun??

The only 9mms I own that are comfortable, and inconspicuous, in a pocket (or ankle) holster are my Sig 938 and Kahr CM9. While I have a desantis pocket holster for my Shield, it's not for actual pocket carry but used as a ride-along holster that tucks nicely between my center console and passenger front seat. Keeps the shield securely within hands reach.

Pocket carry a Shield ?

No problem :D

What brand is this holster?

Will answer my own question DeSantis THE NEMESIS Holsters, Belt Holster, Taurus Judge Holster, DeSantisHolster.com

A Shield is easily carried in a pocket holster. It is considerably smaller than a Glock G36 (or other sub-compact single-stack), which IMO is about the maximum size. I have a Springfield XDs .45 ACP which is nearly identical in size to a Shield. The Springfield Mod 2 is double-stack, and only 1/8" larger than the XDs, with 9+1 capacity in .45 ACP.

Pocket carry may not be the best for a quick draw, but you can put your hand on the grip in a questionable situation without betraying its presence and escalating the encounter. It's just as fast as a belt holster from that condition.

The DeSantis Nemesis comes in a size suitable for a Shield. The Nemesis is sticky on the outside and slick on the inside - almost too slick for good retention. Galco makes a leather holster in several sizes, rough side out. They're a little large, but fit all but the most European cut pockets. Ryan Grizzle (and others) custom-make leather pocket holsters which are no larger than necessary.

My current favorite is a Kydex holster by Detroit Holsters, which completely covers the rear sight and trigger guard (and has room for a LaserMax Micro).

I don't know what size pockets you guys have, but there is no way I can carry a Shield plus ANY holster and not have it print....but go to it if you can.

There's a difference in printing to the point that it's obviously a firearm, then there's printing to the point of being able to tell that SOMETHING is in the pocket. We're not going for 'Invisible' here. :D
For me, it only prints to the point of someone being able to tell that something (like a Phone) is in the front pocket, but that's it.

As mentioned earlier, I use Wrangler 'Relaxed Fit' jeans, which is looser in the thigh region. Of course, if 'Relaxed Fit' is snug on your thighs, you might need to try 'Loose Fit'. One needs to take the pistol into the dressing room and keep trying different Brands and styles. Just as one Brand/Model holster doesn't work for everyone, the same goes for pants. ;)

For me, most of the Wrangler line of pants (jeans, Docker style, Cargo) works great for me while some other brand might work great for others.

I pocket carry my Shield's and 40C pretty easily in cargo shorts. I own a couple cargo shorts that even allow me to even pocket carry my Glock 23.

 All this pocket carry talk does nothing for me except strenghthen the case FOR IWB with a safe and secure holster.

Michael Bloomberg probably could fit one in his pockets. Mine are just too small.

My shield looks remarkably like a smart phone in my pocket. My holster gives it a uniform flat and rectangular print. Not like a gun at all but like a phone.

Still trying to figure out where everyone is getting the no holster impression, I've not read that at all.

Same here...
The OP didn't say anything alluding to pocket carrying without a holster and I don't THINK anyone on this forum would either.

I pocket carry a shield 9mm in a desantis super fly pocket holster all day long. Before that was a ruger lcp in an uncle mikes.

Knowing the shield has a striker block makes me feel infinitely more comfortable carrying that way.

Comes down to common sense.

Keep your other **** outta that pocket, and use a holster.
