I have an M&P Shield 9mm. While watching You-Tube videos it appears that this gun is supposed to have a tool in the groove at the bottom of the grip. My own Shield does not have any such tool? Is this something it is supposed to have and if so does anyone know where I can obtain one? Guess I can call S&W on Monday about this but I would appreciate knowing.

Thanks!

Shields don't have replaceable grip panels so NO they don't have a frame tool. I don't even use the tools in the FS or Compacts, I just use a small screwdriver or pen, or....

OK. There is a slot at the base of the grip heel and it looks like a tool would fit there. It seemed like it was maybe for operating the disassembly latch in the magazine well. Mine sure didn't come with one. Thanks.

You're confusing the larger frame M&P models with the Shield. It does not come with the tool.
