Vehicle Holster
Can anyone recommend a vehicle holster for the Shield? My preference is no bolting or riveting. So I guess velcro is the best option or under the column/wheel clip on. Thanks!

Have you seen the NRA offerings? They have one that fits under the steering wheel. They also have a cup that fits into the cup holders and holds your gun. I keep thinking about that one.
My problem is I am left handed. Not much room over on the left side of my car for a holster.

I'm on the email list for Alien Gear and though i'm not yet at the point of getting and using a holster, thought this new item may be something to consider for add'l mounting options. At least for one of their holsters anyhow.

Highly recommend their holsters. I have been considering this since I saw the email.

Here's a link for something called a MagnaHide from a company by the name of Western Images Leatherworks in Colorado. Two very strong rare earth, (neodymium,) magnets stick like death on a dead mule to the slide and hold the gun. Attach it using Velcro, cable ties, screws, or...

That is a pretty neat idea. Surprised I did not think of something similar. I made a custom bezel for single din headunit and a Nexus 7 tablet and hold the tablet in using rare earth magnets. Works great for that so I cannot see why it makes for a good option.
Does it retain the pistol stronger than a kydex holster?

I guess it depends on the vehicle, but I bought a relatively cheap LEFT HANDED iwb holster from The Holster Store. The metal clip is on the left side of the holster. The clip clips onto the little plastic seat belt guide between the seat belt and the center console.
It keeps the gun down low enough that it isn't readily visible, but it is very accessable. Almost like drawing from the hip.

I bought a couple of them and they'll work best when the magnets contact the flatest part of the slide. The bigger the contact footprint the better, naturally. A Kydex holster will retain, (constrain?,) the gun on five sides, so I'd say no, a Kydex holster will retain it stronger.
I've used MagnaHides to stash a 1911 on the back of the washer for a short time before I got my safe. The MagnaHides are covered with leather. The leather on the back side is thicker than the piece on the front side, but the magnets are still strong enough to grab the sheet metal on the washer. It didn't need anything else to hold the MagnaHide on the washer.

I have Ruger SR40C and my M&P 40 Shield fits a holster I have for the Ruger. For car carry I bought a Fobus Standard Kydex Left Hand Hand Paddle or Belt carry holster made for the Ruger SR9/40. I took off the mount(s) and drilled two new top holes, canted it as I liked it, back drilled the lower console panel beside my right leg and attached the holster using two auto type push pins into the lower console panel. See photos - click below That's My 45 Shield in the holster, I had it before I got my 40 Shield. The 45 works, not great, but OK.
BTW: If you look around you can find the Fobus holsters for less than $20, I paid $18 on Amazon last fall. You need a LEFT HAND model.

check Daraholsters, I've been thinking about it, but don't want to drill holes on my car. I just put the gun holstered between the passenger seat and the center console.

Please reconsider this approach.
Leaving a gun in a car, even locked, is a terrible idea. Transferring one from your personal concealed carry position to a car mount and then back when you leave the car is unnecessary and dangerous.
I don't like to have my defensive gun off my body, except when I sleep. I've always thought car holsters were a terrible liability for a host of reasons.
When I started carrying Appendix Inside the Waist Band (AIWB), all vehicle challenges with my self defense pistol went away. It stays on me. It's secure. It's accessible. I just make sure I pull my covering garment up over the seat belt right after I buckle it.
I have tried magnets. If they are sufficiently secure, it will be difficult to remove the gun. Cheap nylon holsters with clips are never a good solution. There are very few places you can securely hide a gun in a vehicle while still maintaining quick and easy access. Concealed carry is a tactical advantage. If a car gun is well concealed, it will not be very accessible. If it is not well concealed and you get stopped for speeding, it will likely become an unpleasant issue.
Carrying a gun requires compromises, but be sure to properly weigh the benefits vs. the risks when you make such decisions.

You might check out the Travel Mount at Sticky Holsters. It attaches with adhesive. For most uses you'll need the correct Sticky holster also. A Remora holster will fit also. ( In case you already have a Remora)
I'm using the mount is several location. The flat sheet with adhesive goes on first then the mount attaches via velcro. So if you have several of the flat sheets you can place those in different locations. I do around my house.
I attach a light/ laser to my Sig P320 and can place it in the mount sands a holster. If not using the attached light/laser I would use a Sticky holster (or Remora) with the mount.
All this said, in my Subaru Outback there's simply no where to
really place a sidearm where it'd be out of sight.
Go to Sticky Holsters and when there > Accessories.
Gluck and stay safe.
