Is my Shield 9 Double Action Only?

I recall reading somewhere that it is, but I haven't found it stated as DOA on the S&W site. This Forum has so many knowledgeable and helpful members, whom I know will correctly and accurately answer my question.

Thank you.

Striker fired and in that vain and maybe in theory single action.
Don't forget the bullets go face forward. :)

While many manufacturers advertise their striker fire pistols as DAO, they are not true DAO. Striker fire pistols are neither SA, DA/SA, or DAO. They are an action unto themselves.
Yup... SF pistols have a 'take-up', pull and over-travel (similar to DAO), a true DAO is like that of a revolver with a long strong pull (like the 1st shot of a DA/SA).

While it seems confusing, re-strike capability seems to be the hallmark of double-action.
If you pull the trigger and the firing pin does not fire the round, a double-action pistol can reset the action, and release the firing pin (re-strike), needing only a trigger pull to accomplish the task.

Your Shield will not do that. You will need to rack the slide manually, to drop the firing pin again, after a miss-fire.

They can label it that, but the striker is so close to being fully cocked, it's more if a SAO to me. A Glock's striker is approximately half-cocked in the ready to fire position. There have been a couple of true DAO striker fired pistols with second strike capability(a version of Walther P99 IIRC and I believe CZ made one), but they are relatively rare and I'm not aware of any current productions models.
