I am a SUCKER for neat old guns. A local shop in the town I just retired to had a Model 1905 "stray" that has been on layaway forever until I actually became a state resident.
Well, he also had a few neglected top breaks that I never paid much attention to as I am more of a military collector. I paid closer attention yesterday and there is an actually really nice .38 Double Action Second Model (and a less nice lemon squeeze and a "US" made clone).
I put it on layaway as well until I get my new ID later this month but it is very tight, nicely patina'd 2nd Model .38 DA. SN is 52814 which I believe puts it at 1881. For $200, even though it isn't exactly my wheelhouse, I'm glad to add it.
Any other input on this historic beauty is appreciated.
