I'm planning on replacing my G36 with my Shield .45 when it comes back from S&W but I need to find a way to carry mags. I'm thinking in some cases I'll have two in some kind of case on my belt and sometimes just one in my pocket. I guess I'll have to decide between leather or Kydex. Has anybody font good gear? Thanks, Bob

I guess I'll have to decide between leather or Kydex.

Bianchi makes good mag pouches that are fabric covered, and have either a snap or velcro closure. I like them a lot. There are other fabric mag pouches, too...but they don't seem as sturdy as those made by Bianchi. At least the ones I've owned didn't. I can't say I've owned them all!

5.11 makes several made from a canvas strap material that are pretty good, either for attaching to your belt or hooking on Molle gear. Remora makes one that works well in your pocket or tucked in your waist band.

I've had great service from Comp-Tac. I've only used their single mag carriers, but they also make a double mag carrier, I believe. They are a bit thicker than some, but they are well made and the kydex used is a bit thicker than many others. They are adjustable for tension and provide a very good grip on the mag for removal. They are also easy to put on and take off your belt, and the belt clip will allow easy and complete installation on a double thickness leather belt. The clip part is very sturdy and strong.

I second gunny4053's suggestion of the Remora. It gives you the option of IWB or in a pocket. I don't care to use them for pistols (too much added bulk for me), but they work great with single stack mags.

I had Remora make two custom pouches for me because I wanted a double pouch that was narrower and didn't have the seam in the middle to fit in my back pocket. One for my Smith single stack .45 and one for a now sold Boberg XR-9L.

I also adapted the idea of the Remora for my BG380 using cardstock and duct tape for thin and easy front pocket carry of two extra mags.

Not sure about the .45 but my 9mm mag fits neatly into the watch pocket of my jeans like it was made for it.

Found this double mag carrier for my Shield 45 at LGS....

Carries 2 7 round extended mags in a paddle attachment....

Easy to get on and off, rides comfortable and stays put.......

Made by Blackhawk....

Kytex gear in Texas makes good mag pouches that clip on belt.I have been using their mag pouches for several years without any problem.

I was going to try Kytex several weeks ago because of all the good reviews. Sent them an email to see if they had any mag pouches for the Shield 45 yet.

I never received a reply or anything so I ordered 2 kydex OWB pouches from Ted_Cori on ebay. I received them quick and they are just what I wanted.

I have ordered 5 holsters and 4 mag pouches from Ted. He does excellent work and will custom build to suit your specs.

I have Bianchi leather and Blackhawk kydex, they both do what they're suppose to do. None of mine have retention straps either-open top with a snug fit, just like my holsters.

My Bianchi leather, open top, double mag case originally bought to carry 2 1911 .45 ACP mags works just fine. I like to carry OWB for my Shield and my extra mags. I cover up with either an untucked tee shirt, vest or jacket depending on the weather.

Have one for double and single stack.
