I bought mine new 6 years ago for $550. I have seen them now under 450 new. I would guess 350 to 400 used in my area depending on condition.

My son bought a new unissued DETROIT PD marked M&P .40, with all the goodies (Night Sights, 3 mags, palm swell strips, Uplula loader, etc.). He has less than 200 rounds through it. How much should he ask for it?

Many of the larger dealers that deal with PDs have been offering the trade in guns at $300-$350
I bought three full size M&Ps last summer from different Agency trade in deals. Two at $300 and one at $329. Only one had ever had the magazines loaded.
Since your son's used pistol is Department Marked, some collectors of issue firearms like that and he may be able to get a bit more cash with the right buyer. This WCSO 357 M&P was a 2012 produced firearm that had not been shot or loaded since leaving the factory.
He could start at an asking price of $425 and then negotiate downward until a sale is made.

If it were mine I wouldn't ask less than $500. I've seen used M&P selling for $400 with two mags and white dot sights. keep the uplula loader it is a nice loader and not cheap.

He advertised it locally last night for $475 OBO. He was offered $425 this morning and he sold it. He had $433 into it.
BTW, I went to a website that has boo koo Glock G22 Gen 2 & 3's starting at $200. I told him that this was just the start of the Glock G22 starting to saturate the gun world. In a few months, had he still had his M&P for sale, competing against those Glocks, he would never have received the money he got for it today.
But, I could be wrong.....??????

He did well. Bud's sells police trade in M&P 40s for $319.00. I look for gun prices to come down even further now that the election's over, especially in .40 caliber.
