I purchased a .357 Sig barrel for my S&W M&P .40 and made the barrel swap (conversion). I'm really liking my M&P even more now.

Question;
I can't seem to find a new M&P .357 SIG pistol and from my searches, it sounds like this pistol has been discontinued.

Does anyone know where to find a new one? Will S&W ever bring it back again?

Also, any downside to this conversion or pistol?

Thank you for your help.

The very first M&P I purchased was a 357 sig fullsize. As far as I know, They have been discontinued for civilian sales. I keep my 357 in the case, and have never holstered it. There is no downside to using a 357 barrel in your .40. It should function perfectly fine. I was going to purchase a .40 barrel for my 357, but instead, I just bought an M&P 40 pro series 4.25". Enjoy shooting the 357, it has quite a punch.

I was told that sales really lagged so S&W dropped it . I have a Sig P320 that I converted from 9mm to 357 sig and haven't ever looked back . It is a great pkg , Sig quality and a real quality caliber in such a great pkg .
I converted my MP in 40S&W to 357 sig also .

I bought a 357 Sig barrel for my M&P 40C about a year ago. The 357 Sig is very accurate and to me seems hard hitting. I carry my compact with 357 Sig.

I like being able to do most of my target shooting with the 40 to save money. But it's not impossible to find decent deals. I bought 500 rounds of 357 Sig for about 38 cents a round on Black Friday.

As far as I know there was no difference between the 357 Sig and 40S&W at all other than the barrel and the caliber marked on the slide. The primer end of the case is identical between the two calibers. They even share the same magazine so by dropping the Sig barrel into the 40 frame it's theoretically the same as a factory 357 Sig gun. With that in mind, the 40 to 9mm is a different story since the case dimensions are different. While running the 9mm barrel in the 40 frame even though it does work it's not an ideal situation.
