Default New Shield 9mm factory residue.

I have a new Shield 9mm that has a copper-like residue on the breech face. It seems to be a round area perhaps from rounds fired at the factory. Any ideas on what it is from?

Yes, it's from the test firing they do at the factory. It's just brass from where the case slams into the breech face upon firing and is completely normal. A little Hoppe's #9 on a patch will take it right off but it will be back after your first range trip.
