Default M&P Competition ?

I am used to shooting a USPSA Limited Class 1911. Has all the bells and whistles. 1.6 oz trigger, Brilley Barrel, low mount Bomars etc. Was built by Tommy Abernathy in early 90s. In the last year or so I have gotten back into a little competition shooting. IDPA, 2 gun tactical and probably will do a little USPSA. After not shooting competition in about 20 years. I have picked up my second 9mm CORE. I will have a Apex Flat trigger kit in it. Already have it in 2 other M&Ps as well as their competition kit in another. my question what other things are you guys doing to make them more accurate, faster and manageable. And do not say practice. I shoot a several hundred rounds a week.

Kind of depends on what division and sanctioning body you are going to shoot. Putting the apex flat trigger has already limited your choices to ESP (IDPA) or Open/Limited (USPSA). The Core is a good choice for USPSA Carry Optics, but you would have to go back to a stock trigger to be legal. I can't see using a Core in Limited or ESP because the tall sights aren't the best choice (voice of experience on this ) You could shoot open minor but there is a point penalty (unless you shoot only A zone hits). As far as improvements..... Apex extractor, appropriate magwell depending on which sanctioning body, extended capacity mags depending on division. Good luck with your return venture into competition.

Well, you are already in the open class, if I am not mistaken.
So, I would do the following

Red Dot
KKM BBl
Speed shooter Compensator
Speed Shooter Spec. magwell
extended mags

That is what is in store for my 5" CORE.

I already have the Apex kit, but may fine tune it to get the pull down to 2# or less.

Also, look into some heavy rounds.....I am using 147gr from Stand 1 Armory.

Sounds like a nice set up. Do you already shoot USPSA? If so, what do you shoot currently?

I am just getting into it, been doing a lot of self defense shooting over the years. Want to see how I stack up against some others.

I will be glad when I am done spending $ on this CORE. LOL

Production class is easy to get into with what you have at least until you get all the other parts in.

I am not in production.
Sights ( Dawson)
Apex
Vortex
The trigger bumps me up alone.

I run a better barrel with the apex trigger setup and a fast fire III. That's it, they are good guns out of the box. Not sure I would spend a ton of money upgrading a $600 gun cause there's only so much you're going to get out of it.

I meant if you wanted to leave it stock until you had all the parts in.

Cant, I already did the trigger and sights.
I can remove or add the Vortex.

I could have left it stock, LOL....could have.

My first comp I placed first in class and 16th out of 36 overall. Its a good enough start.

That was just pistol. Next one I am going to use the 15-22 with a red dot. LOL

Once I get the shoty kitted out, 3-gun.
It needs a tube (4+1 now) 18" bbl (24" now) and I may even put a mesa stock on it. Its a Mossy 930 semi. Got it at WalMart for $300

My AR is ready to go too, 16" DPMS M4gery.

I think the best thing I can do at this point is to add the magwell, HOWEVER, I think staying with the stock for now will teach me more than adding stuff. The compensator withe the 147gr -P , will seriously help with the muzzle flip. That second shot is the one that hurts me the most.

I can usually draw, aim and hit an 8" plate in about 1.2 seconds, so I am happy with that. Just want to get it where I can do that AND an extra shot in the same time frame.

The gun can only do so much, the rest is the shooter.

When a n00b like myself works the others with STIs...that says a LOT. Not about me, but the equipment.

Its like my motorcycles, has way more potential than I do.
And I am not a slouch rider.

Do what makes you happy, and advance as far as you want.

I was very happy with my devirginizing steel match.
