I looked at those on their website. The thing about the Shield .45 is that it's built for concealability. Even with the factory 7-round magazine, you start to lose some of that concealability.

With the factory 7-round mag, you get 7+1 capacity. In .45acp, that's a good bit of firepower. As just an ordinary shooter who carries for personal protection, I'm satisfied with that number of rounds being on tap.

And at $28 each, plus shipping, I think the HYVE extensions are way overpriced.

You asked for opinions. Mine is that they aren't worth it for the money, and I know absolutely nothing about any potential reliability.

I just ordered two for the .45 shield and two for the 9mm shield.

Yes they are not cheap, depends on a personal choice there.

They will be used as backup/spare mags and not carried in the pistol for me.

I talked to the company several times before ordering. They are also coming out with a new trigger for the shield soon.

More to follow, they should be here next week.

That would be used as a secondary magazine. I have some positive results with the HYVE on my G43. I am waiting for magguts to make their internal mag extensions, They add a round without extending the magazine. All internal parts, They have worked well with my Shield 9mm

I contacted magguts and they are working on the plus one for the M&P 45 shield.

I have their plus two for 9mm shield mags and no issues, just wanting to try something different.

I returned my Hyve for the Shield 45, they would not reliably cycle rounds in either the 6rd and 7rd magazines

That's good to know I've always been a little Leary of mag extensions the magguts have been 100% reliable in my shield 9mm BUT not my G43. Guess I'll wait for magguts.

They took the return and said they'd continue testing their customer service is great, I think it's a matter of needing a higher tension spring/longer spring.
I'll hold out till more testing is done, but honestly, 6+1 and then a 7rd backup mag, is plenty of firepower for me for edc. I would like 7+1 in a flush mag though, simply because 15 is better than 14
