Shield trigger replacement?

Just ordered my first Shield because of the rebate going on currently. I've heard the current trigger is so/so. For those of you that replaced yours - what did you replace it with?

I replaced mine with the apex duty carry kit. Mine was gritty and heavy. The apex kit fixed all the issues now it breaks nice clean and crispy at 5.5lb, some people will say it gets better with a couple of hundred rounds. I had no patience for that.

Try it up first for 200-300 rounds then decide IF you need a replacement. I'm not replacing one on my 45. Mine is crisp out of the box and breaks at about 6.5 lbs

If you are not familiar with a 'very good' feel to a trigger vs a factory standard trigger you will probably be fine. If you happen to get a chance to pick up and dry fire a Shield that someone has refined with Apex parts and polishing you no doubt will want your like that too

Get your gun, understand it, get it broke in and see where you end up, they are very tight at first and the trigger does get better with time, it's just a matter of how nice you want it to end up for your needs.

Got mine lightly used and the trigger was poor compared to my other pistols. Got the Apex Duty and it's very good now. I agree, shoot it some, see how you do, then decide.

Understand, however, if you upgrade the gun like I did with the Apex and fiber optic sights you'll probably never get your money out of it. Figure the Apex around $150, sights somewhere in the $100 range, add that to the original cost (say $350) and you now have a $600 Shield. Doubt you can get that for one (although I'm trying....going to replace it with a Walther PPS which fits my hand much better.)

what model ? my S9 had a horrible trigger as mentioned but the S45 is pretty good out of the box.

Bought a shield about 4 weeks ago , shot it well straight out of the box , installed Talon grips (highly recommend) got some TRUGLO sights turning up in a few days , in my humble opinion , changing the trigger is a bit of a cop out , practice with it and it shoots fine ...

I have two Shields and have not replaced the triggers in either one. Both are fine and have gotten much better using them. They smooth out. If folks want to change out their triggers, then so be it. But, this is not a target pistol.

If you are handy and a bit fearless you can polish and modify some angles on the stock sear to achieve pretty much the same as the Apex.

I put Apex sears in my Shield 40 and Shield 45 Performance Center, and it made a significant difference in the trigger pull. It's an easy, quick installation.

I got mine on 4/1 when the rebate started. All of the Shields I had tried before had a crappy reset. This one is great. I have ZERO complaints about the mechanics of it...
It just looks like chintzy plastic- that's my problem with it.

Apex appears to have several actual triggers to choose from. I have no experience with them for the Shield. I'm happy with the factory trigger itself for the Shield.

There is only two trigger kits for the shield, the action enhancement and the duty carry, then you can pick the trigger shoe of your preference or keep the factory one.

The same you only have two options the flat face trigger or the curved both produce the same results the only change is the face of the trigger and both are aluminum.

I suppose you can use the rebate to buy an expensive trigger. Honestly, the trigger is OK. Some say wait 200 rounds, which is the minimum I put through a newly acquired firearm before I trust it with my life. My Shield has 240 rounds through it and I really don't see the diference between round 1 and round 240 but that is just me. The only reason I would change the trigger is for aesthetics, I don`t like the articulating feature plus the red does look cool.

Got the angle finished up the other day and got some 1500 put on it. All I have left to do is final polishing. Will advise

I have 4 and feel the same way but its nothin for me to run by my range and pop 1-200 downrange. IE:Gettin it broke-in.

I have about 250 rounds through my shield 9. I am considering changing the trigger because i have a MA compliant 10 lbs trigger. I have a feeling the 10 lbs trigger may be messing with my accuracy just a a little bit. I will be going with the red Apex kit

great trigger

Man just shoot it ...my just arrived MP9 Shield has the best striker trigger I have ever shipped lead down range with and is only going to get better with use ...no low and left (I am right handed) groups and very tight groups ...I did change one thing ...my eyes just cannot work with 3 white dots so before I ever shot it I converted it with "Glow ON" paint to front sight RED and rear bright green (this stuff is like the old luminus watch face) it will glow quite awhile after dark but certainly no $100 night-sight ...but for $20 I have every iron sighted gun in my ownership bright red front and bright lime green rear... plenty bright several hours after sundown and the same if you hit'em with a flashlight for 15 seconds before going to early morning stand ...I am a point shooter and close combat sights do not come into play ...I do want some early morning pistola sights ( when bow hunting) due to increasing Mtn Lion and Bear presence .
