I applied some fine grit skateboard griptape to my FS M&P 9mm 1.0 because the texture is just way too slippery for me. End result, it now feels fantastic. With the M2.0 release, I was hoping the new texture would eliminate the need for griptape. It did, however IMO it is a little too aggressive. I still prefer the feel of the griptape on my pistol. It is gripper than the M2.0 but does not feel as coarse. The M2.0 raised texture digs into my skin. I'm sure I am in the minority but does anyone else have the same opinion?

I like the texture on the 2.0. That was one of the main reasons I bought mine.

I didn't take your poll though. I like part of the first option- better than the original. And while I don't find it too aggressive, I'm not 100% sure I'd call it "perfect".

Mine isn't a carry piece though. I bought it for the sole purpose of being a dedicated IDPA gun.

Neither option.

It's better if you only shoot a few rounds. If you shoot 100, it's far too aggressive. It's OK, but I'd have to put some sand paper to it to get it right. The original was better.

I agree with Ray1970. I purchase a 5" FDE 40 and I knew right away I wanted it for everything else but CCW. My favorite CCW is the 40c. I've never had any issues with it sliping or the need to put griptape on it. The more agressive 2.0 texture feels very good in my hands and im still very happy with my 40c. I feel the 2.0's are just not meant to be tucked in the waistband as a CCW with say a simple kydex holster.

I would strongly recommend any M&P 1.0 over a 2.0 for CCW. The 2.0 is a good pistol, Just not so comfortable for CCW.

I do believe there's enough holster options for CCW to help the 2.0's out though.

I put 250 rounds through mine the first time I took it to the range and I didn't find the texture "far too aggressive". I imagine everyone is going to have different opinions about it though.

I was pondering adding a 2.0, but really dont care for the grip texture (have had no issues with the grip on my 1.0's).

Thought if i do pick one up, i'd maybe try using a backstrap from my 1.0; which may take away part that could bother me the most while leaving some of the aggressive texture still on (no interesting in actually sanding down anything on a gun).

But for now, the 2.0 is too aggressive for my needs. Of course that could be my "office worker" hands talking lol

I don't get it, some people are putting all kind of weird stuff on their pistol grip grip to improve it, then S&W releases a new gun with an awesome texture grip, and people now complain about being too aggressive.

I would never put weird stuff on my gun there are plenty of option to improve the grip on your gun. I had talon grips, hogue handall grip, not only will look good, it improves handling, even tried some stippling on the palm swell on my 45 and 9c it helps a lot without being too aggressive.

At first I thought the 2.0 was too aggressive but not any more.

Its Great

I CCW my 2.0 for 7 weeks while my 9c was away and have been shooting it 200 to 250 rounds a week. Its great in fact I am in no hurry to start carrying my M&P 9c again. Not too aggressive and can shoot many rounds without any problems.

Too aggressive ? Sandpaper will solve that . I've knocked some sharp checkering down with 400 grit Wet or Dry paper more than a few times.

I tested the M&P 9mm full size gen 1 and liked it enough that when I found out about the M2.0 I decided to buy it before my local gun range had it available for rent. When I received it from the FFL I was kind of surprised at just how "aggressive" the texture was but I took it to the range and put 200 rounds through it, the grip tore up the web of my hand between my thumb and index finder. I sold it a week later for a $75 loss. Not a fan...
