As an old school 2400 target shooter and Cowboy action shooter the factory 3 dots drove me krazy and for me ..S-L-O-W to come up ....+ in low light the white dots being somewhat recessed did not pickup much ambient light in low light settings and of course non existent in near or dark
I rolled the dice ...I admit it ...on the XS Big Dot ...and for me a winner and here are a couple reasons:
1. The front sight's white ring (which encircles the Green Tritium tube) has external light gathering surface ...think of a white Lifesaver candy's contour ...which allows the white "Bead" to gather light 360 degrees ...results are great front reference point in almost any light and way before the white ring is becoming marginal the Green Tritium tube portion of the sight is very visible.
2. The REAR sight is very much shaped like an express sight on an African dangerous big game rifle ... that was ...before buying this sight a real hurdle for me plus the white centered reference mark on the rear sight IS NOT tritium ...another hurdle ...or so I thought ...but ...again for me it is really a smooth fast combination
3. DAYLIGHT Being a front sight shooter (rear sight out of focus somewhat and allowing the eye to marginally use the rear sight for a reference point) the big dot front sight for me centers out and floats very nicely in the gentle "Vee" of the rear sight and gets there very fast
4. NIGHT The XS is a 24/7 sight ...there seems to be so far ...no combinations of low/no light that you do not have the front sight combat grade usable ...the rear sight works in an unique way ...when your light is such that the white centered reference line is not visible the top of the rear sight blade still is in play ...it will shape the front sight ...you can clearly see the front sights shape change such as coming up front sight high and come down in front and the front sight gets a gentle Vee shape on it's bottom (if centered) ...say you come in high front sight but off to the left ...the front sight shows a slight slice of the left bottom missing
5. How this comes together for me ...DAYLIGHT the slightly taller front sight (cause it is a BIG DOT) has me shooting 4" low at 7 yards (with a 12 o'clock hold) but still easily in the center of mass ...and easily corrected by simply allowing the Big Dot to ride above rear sight white center line the thickness of 38 spcl rim ..NIGHT...with the Green Tritium tube in the center of the Big Dot and using the above described rear sight as a "shaping device" the true night time groups are 6" low because the centered on the rear blade lowers the front sight ...my groups also are opening up to 12" +/- using the speed combat would dictate at night ...I can close them up shooting slower target shooting speed but that speed is of no value to my purposes
...the not shooting dead on might deter some from this sight but for me at night ..I have quickly and effectively just re orientated my mental aiming point and shoot for ever so slightly higher center of mass
This sight may very well not be for everybody but it is fast,has never snagged coming out of my pocket holster and is viable for 24/7 combat

I bought my first ever Glock, G17.4, last November. I couldn't hit the broad side of a barn with that thing. Unless I threw the gun at the barn.
Seriously, I was not hitting my targets like I wanted to. So, I went to some Glock forums and explained my dilemma to them. I received all kinds of suggestions, in which I tried most of them.
FINALLY, I was getting better. But, not good enough for my standards. I thought back to one suggestion; Install some XS-BIG DOT sights! So, I went to EBAY and bought some. Front sight was tritium, rear sight had just a white vertical line center of the sight.
Long story short, I was nailing my targets dead center at 7-15 yards! Well, not every shot, but a fair amount. I was doing ok, but I still couldn't get used to the grip ergonomics. So, 6 months later, I sold it.
I got more for it then I paid for it, but still lost money putting on the XS-BD sights. Ah well, C'est La Vie!
IMHO, I know the XS-BD sights helped improve my shooting capabilities. It's so simple; line the huge front sight on top of the rear vertical line center of the sight (Like a lolli-pop) and aim at your target! Volia'!

I'm quite accurate with it on my g27, g23, and mp40c up to 25yrds. My buddy also shot 2" groups consistently at 10yards, rapid pace, when I let him shoot it for the 1st time at an outdoor range; he was all over the target with his Sig Elite with better brass ammo before that.

Also want to add, it really doesn't matter what sights if you shoot enough. Your sight acquisition skill level will improve as you get more practice...you'll be more accurate with any sights. I also find that night sights are useless for the most part. They wash out. I just need solid iron sights that won't break.

I tried them on a Glock 27 and didn't care for them, even though my qualification scores remained the same as with conventional sights. Pistol sights are an individual preference. What works great for one shooter may not be so great for another. I have migrated from Trijicons to Heinie's to Trijicon HD. I have played with the XS BDs and 10-8 Performance fiber optics along the way. I've also used factory sights, and have found that taking a sharpie to the white dots on the rear sight of an M&P works about as well as any of them when some form of light is present. I will probably progress to 10-8 FOs for future carry guns. Again, sights are a personal preference.
