Default Trijicon HD Night Sights On M&P

I'm real close pulling the trigger on some Trijicon HD night sights on my 2.0 compact. Any of you who have them want to weigh in? Pros and cons? I was a slight bit concerned that the rear sight may be a bit higher than the stock three dot. Also there are some complaints that "long range" may be inhabited due to the front sight "filling up" the u-notch (no space) and covering the whole target. The primary purpose for the pistol is concealed carry so I'm not sure how concerned I am about that (?).

I'd like to see Ameriglo come out with a set of the FBI spec sights for the M&P. They have the spartan operators, which are similar but not exactly the same. I like the serrated rear.

If you like the trijicon HDs but want the "far away" accuaracy then you should look at the trijicon HD XRs. They have a thinner front sight.

I was reading about those. One reviewer said it might not as good at close range/fast target acquisition. I wish up front I could tell how much the hd/xr really makes. Or is it splitting hairs? If it's a significant difference I'd rather go with the shorter range sights.

I just installed some Trijjicon HDXR sights on my M&P 2.0 Compact and love them.Yes they are a little taller but not much also the front sight is not as wide as the standard HDs.It does make precision shots easier to me while still being very fast to pick up.I have the orange outline in front.

Have you found that the guns zero is any different with the HDXR, still 25yds like with the stock sights?

If the HD rear sight isn't taller by the same amount, POA/POI will be off from what the stock sights are. The stock sights POA/POI zero is 25 yds, so a set of sights in which only the front is taller is going to increase that zero distance before the sights become POA/POI. Or, I also see them possibly not dialing in to POA/POI at all, given the bullet drop characteristics/trajectory of the 9mm.

Hard to know. Trijicon lists 5 blade heights for the HDs. .185-.225", with a difference of .010" between them. I believe stock height is .160". Did your package happen to indicate the blade height of your set?

I have a set of the HDXR sights on my .45 shield and love them, very bright and easy to pick up.....My only complaint was the rear sight was very sharp and could easily cut you so I took a fine file to the sharp, pointy areas and cold blued the spots so now they are perfect....I'm going to put a set on the full size 2.0 when the piggy bank fills back up.....Try a set, you'll like um....

Well I went ahead today and got the HD sights (orange outlime). I was bouncing back and forth between the HD and XR and it came down to my dealer haveing the HD in stock. If I really wanted to down the road I can have the XR upgrade; the back sights are the same on both models, just have the front changed (it can be ordered separately).
