I am considering holster upgrade for my 9mm shield 1.0

My current IWB is not tuckable. So I’m looking for tuckable IWB.

I like the idea of changeable shells for a holster and both stealthgear mini ventcore, and the aliengear 4.0 offer this option.

The aliengear is less expensive if for IWB only about half the price of the stealthgear.

I have read reviews and everyone loves both. But I have not found a review comparing them head to head, or a review where. Person has had both.

Has anyone here tried both of these ? and if so which one was preferred and why?

The 4.0 is thick. I prefer the original cheaper 1.0 aliengear. Haven’t tried the stealthcare.

I absolutely love my stealth gear. The make and quality is the absolute best on the market in my experience. I have had a lot of Alien gear holsters which are good, the price point to quality ratio is probably their best feature. But the stealth blows that quality away.

If you plan to carry the shield for the next few years id say invest in the stealth. If you are going to change your carry gun id say go alien.

Thanks,

I’m just having a difficult time spending over $100 for a holster and not even sure if I will like the way it sits on the body.

I use a single clip concealment express IWB which I like but it has no padding, and gives me a little focused pressure that after a few hours of wearing, starts to irritate me. And not being tuckable of course. Which is why I started looking at IWB that have a larger contact area to spread the pressure over a larger less focused area.

I started with a Stealth Gear mini and yes it was comfortable. However, the backing material that Stealth uses is slippery. I switched to the AG 3.0 Tuck and IMO it is a big improvement in comfort, quality and design. The neoprene backing doesn't move around and, at least for me, works really well. I chalked up the $100 investment in Stealth as the price of education. I also tried the AG OWB paddle for a while and it was too thick for reasonable concealment. Alien Gear has great customer service, I can't say that for Stealth.

Thanks for this information. I have used Aliengear IWB 2.0 & 3.0 holsters for 3 years. I like them. But it is always good to not be so product or brand conscious that you refuse to consider making an update. I carry the AG in cross draw position. The heat here gets over 110 during the summer. During the cool months I don't tuck under a shirt but use a light, heavy jacket or vests. I'll give Stealthcare a chance, I like the ventilation and the lighter weight. Thanks again.

I use a stealthgear mini iwb for my shield .45 and it is the most comfortable especially for wearing long hours plus it is moisture wicking so it keeps the sweat off your pistol.
Black Arch holsters are about the same but with much more customization for less money.

I think the AG 4.0 is a bit smaller and has neoprene backing.

Gwmac, would you be interested in selling your stealthgear holster? Was it for a shield?

Thank you for sharing the alternate option. Ive been searching for a holster for my P320c in 45, and your suggestion is about to get tested after the holidays.

The 4.0 is thick. I prefer the original cheaper 1.0 aliengear.

I'm looking at the Aliengear Cloak 1.0 as it's one of the few inexpensive IWB holsters that have a version that accommodates the Viridian R5 green laser* for the S&W Shield. Anybody else have experience with this holster?

*One of Santa's elves gave me the heads-up on the DL that I'm getting one for Christmas as I've been good this year.

I ordered an Alien Gear 3 days ago for my Glock 19 RMR. My current holster does give enough support. Photo from earlier tonight. Sent this to a friend in Massachusetts.

I have several 1.0 and 2.0’s. I prefer the leather to the neoprene backed. I sweat a lot less and and it doesn’t stick to my skin and pull. I’ve had one since their introduction and use them exclusively now for concealed carry.

I have the AG4.0 for my shield and it's very comfortable. Was talking to a customer that has a stealth gear. His problem with the stealth gear is the sweat shield is beginning to flop over when his gun is unholstered making it a little more difficult to reholster his gun. The AG 4.0 solved that problem by making the sweat shield a little stiffer. I can't say enough good things about the Alien Gear.
