Boy, are you guys Debbie Downers. The 3.0 is on its way. I know this because I've just received an email offering a $100 rebate on any M&P 2.0. If there is now a rebate on the 2.0, can a 3.0 be far behind? The rebate is being handled by the First Rebate Bank of Nigeria. Unlike previous rebates, the First Rebate Bank promises a very quick processing time. All you have to do is email them a copy of your M&P purchase receipt (with serial number), plus your debit card number and PIN. And as it says in the email offer, "Funds transfer will occur instantaneously upon receipt of your information." Now some of you Debbie Downers may still be skeptical, but the First Rebate Bank is owned by an actual Nigerian Prince, so it has to be legit, right?
Riiight...

Don't scoff at the OP, he is right - "Funds transfer will occur instantaneously upon receipt of your information."

A friend of a friend's former college roommate's ex-brother-in law heard from his 3rd ex-wife's current boyfriend that the M3.0G6X is going to be a joint offering from Smith & Gaston. It doesn't get much more credible than that.
Whatever it is, if there's a rebate, I'm in! lol

I guess I'm senile enough to be the only, or one of a few, semi-serious responses ... I hope they don't offer the swappy-grip thingy like SIG. The swapability is nice, but I think it necessitates the grip frames being too thick and blocky. I have a SIG P250, and like it, but the upper part of the grip frame, slide rail area, seems too thick.

I hope I never do. While there is some slight cost savings compared to buying a complete new pistol in another size it's not that great a deal. Go from full size to compact you need a new frame and also new barrel, a new slide, and new mags. The benefit? Not much since yous till only have one gun at a time.

^Yeah, though I imagine it's wonderful for people who live in jurisdictions that limit the number of guns owned or where they make buying guns extremely difficult.

Why would they release 3.0 when 2.0 is just getting off the ground? That makes no sense from both a sales and product perspective.
