Purchased the Shield 9mm +2 ( Z springs) conversion kits and they arrived today.

I have previously installed the +1 conversion Z Spring conversion kits for 2 of my Glock 43 mags, and while not easy to put on, they were doable.

The Z Springs in these packages are so stiff it is next to impossible to shove them into the mag well to be able to start to mount the base plate, more or less get seated.

The Z springs are not only stiff they are sharp and after three hours of attempts,I cut my fingers in couple of places and still couldn't get the damn things in. Watched two separate Youtube videos of dudes putting these on their Shield Magazines and it looked easy, not mine, and I doing it the exact same way they are showing on the videos.

I have a shout out to Magguts to see what the problem is, perhaps the wrong springs in the kit, or they are just dangerous and useless.

Anyone else have the same problem with the Shield +2 Z springs for the 9mm Shield?

I have installed 4 on my 8-round magazines with zero issues and zero issues in functioning.

Magguts got back to me pretty quick and asked me if I was putting the springs in the mag properly, I told them yes flat ends pointing to the rear of the mag.

Then then offered to install the springs and set it up themselves for free and send the mags back to me.

I answered that this was my primary carry weapon and didn't want it down too long and if they could give me a reasonable turn around time I might take them up on it.

I also gave them the specs on the mags in my kit, being 8-1/4" long, since I can't believe any human would have an easy time installing these springs since the bowed end of the spring pops out every time I was able to get the base plate to slide onto it, and that was one try out of 20.

Amen. I finally took mine to a smith and picked it up a day later. Don't know how but he did it.

He probably has cut up fingers and thumbs like I do right now, don't know how the hell a normal human being could put the Z springs in the kit I have for this Shield.

Sorry to hear that you had so much trouble.
Yes, they are stiff. Yes, the edges are sharp. Yes, I ended up with a couple cuts, but once installed, they work great and are worth it.

All my factory Shield mags have either the original (2-piece) or newer Z-Spring kits.

Next to the UpLULA mag Loader, thy are a great Bang for the Buck investment.

Magguts now has their kits and my magazines being shipped them which they agreed to install and send back to me for gratis.

I installed the Magguts in 2 8 rd. mags and had "Zero" issues with the springs or anything else and the work great, just don't use a mag loader on 1st rd.
