Default Shield 9 ported barrel/federal fmj ammo

I just realized plated FMJ ammo like Federal I use for range ammo shaves the jackets sending shavings who knows where. The box does say don't use in ported barrels. I did notice deposits of plating that were hard to remove on the end of the barrel after 100 rounds of the Federal. Whats a good alternative for range ammo for a ported Shield?

I looked into it back when i picked up my PC Shield in '16 as I noticed Blazer Brass was labeled the same. From what i was told at the time from the manufacturer's that I contacted:

- Blazer Brass was not recommended, but their Speer Lawman series was ok.
- Federal Champion was not, but American Eagle was ok.
- I was told S&B was ok (I use the Herter's line from Cabelas). - - And I have been mostly using Remington UMC in mine.

I have over 2k rounds thru my PC, again mostly the Rem ammo (all 115fmj). And yes as stated to me as well, some rounds have thinner plating that "could" flake off. It may be a legit possible issue and it may be to cover themselves, but I'm fine using what i use for the range as it's been very affordable and works well.

I'd suggest that it is easy to contact the various cust service departments for updates and new offerings/suggestions, if nothing else it gives one some piece of mind if this is a concern.
