9mm Shield 2.0 w/4” barrel...any aftermarket?
I own a Shield 2.0 performance center with 4” ported barrel and I’m looking to replace the barrel with non-ported, either aftermarket or an OEM for concealed carry purposes.
I’ve contacted most of the online vendors producing aftermarket barrels and none that I’ve approached make a 4” barrel for a shield, so I have 2 questions;
1. Is there any crossover with barrels from the 2.0 range, maybe from perhaps m&p compact?
2. If I end up going with an OEM 4” barrel, will it be a ‘drop in’ replacement or would I be taking it to a gunsmith?
Thanks in advance for the replies.

I can only speak from a 1.0 perspective. I have a full size, compact and Shield 1.0
The Shield barrels do not interchange with the non-Shield barrels and vice versa. The lock up lugs are different as well as a few other dimensions.
If you can find an OEM Shield 4" non ported barrel, it should drop in.

My 4" Shield is the one with the RDS and does not have ports. I presume that such barrels would be available from S&W, although they may have only gotten enough for anticipated production.

why would the port in a barrel matter for conceal carry? I carry a PC with ports.

There are a few schools of thought when it comes to carrying with a ported barrel. The main reason why people are against it is because of the possibility of increased muzzle flash during low light shooting. The other reason would be additional openings for debris to get into the barrel/slide assembly.

Have you called Lone Wolf? Their Alpha Wolf division makes a Canada-length (4.21"/107mm) barrel for sundry Glocks (I have one in my Glock 43 for added velocity with certain handloads) - they make barrels for Shields and they make extended barrels for them, but I don't know whether there are plans in the works for the Canada-length tubes.
Here's their Shielf page: AlphaWolf for S&W Shield - Lone Wolf Distributors
And, just because photos are fun, here's my extended Glock 43 package (that throws 147-gr HST handloads at 1150 fps - nice for hikes):

thanks, the flash from the end of the barrel shouldn't be what they worry about

I have the same question and or problem. I also have the new 2.0 Shield with the 4inch ported barrel. I have no problems with the ported barrel other than I can't use this pistol in Carry Optics competition because the barrel is ported. I called Smith and Wesson and they told me I would have to send the gun in for them to add the non-ported barrel. They will not sell just the barrel without sending the gun into them. They said with their turn around time now it might take at least 5 months. Can't find aftermarket barrels either. Any suggestions? Thanks in advance for any help given!!

Carry it the way it is, it will work fine. If it bugs you to carry a ported Shield, sell it and buy another model.
Why did you buy it in the first place ?
Increased muzzle flash my butt. The flash that comes out of the ports is tiny compared to what comes out of the muzzle.
If flash worries you try different loads at night to find one with the lowest flash.
You might be waiting a long time for someone to come out with aftermarket barrels for 4 inch Shields.
