Anybody know or can help point me in the right direction to get replacement parts for this handgun. I would like to get a new barrel, a new threaded barrel that is. Also the part that pulls the shell from the barrel seems to not do its job, causing jam after jam. I have seen posts and videos on how my gun is the best 22 people have ever owned? I have not had the same feelings. Is there somewhere I can send the gun to get fixed and re barreled so I can apply a suppressor in the near future?

Welcome! It is a discontinued model but has the standard lifetime warranty from S & W; have you tried contacting the factory?

This was available with a threaded barrel (the factory or someone here may have one; you can try a Wanted to Buy ad) and the extractor and related parts may be the same as the Compact.

No I havent, I guess that's the next move. Hopefully they can help. Does the warranty give me new parts? Or what kind of perks does the S&W warranty give me?

I'm a rookie to gun ins and outs, do and don'ts. Everytime thinking about sending it in, some kind of scary event happens or threat about gun ownership, rights to own, or something comes out making me think twice about giving it up at that moment. Since then I've got a few more home defense pieces and feel safe to send this piece in finally

Your barrel is threaded from the factory. It has a protecter cap on the end. You do need a threaded barrel adapter. You can get them off ebay. Simply type in m&p 22 threaded barrel adapter. One of the tiny wrenches that came with your gun will remove the protector.

You say it’s not extracting. Have you tried a different ammo? Not all 22 is created equally and it may just be a bad brand that it doesn’t like. Mine doesn’t like Winchester 22. But then again I don’t own a 22 that seems to like certain Winchester or golden Bullet.

They will get it functioning. But if you haven’t tried a different ammo I would go that route first

Thanks, I have seen them with the threaded muzzle but didn't know if that was universal or an extra-cost option.

Im not sure about the end cap? Doesnt look like I have or had a threaded barrel option.? I'll take another look, but I just seems to be a smooth barrel to me.
Funny you say Winchester. That's the ammo I think I first bought. A couple different boxes. But I have tried a few different ammo types.
I watched as many YouTube videos as possible to pick up any tips and tricks. I wrote down a certain ammo type..I wanna say it was something like CCS or CSS, CSI, idk? FMJ to hollowpoint. They all seem to have an issue...for examples: cases get stuck in the barrel, the bullet comes up and in at the wrong degree from the mag causing a problem, the little hook case extractor doesnt grab the shell...like its lodged into the barrel, constantly jamming, I dont think I've gone through 2 mags successfully without a problem since owning it brand new out of the box.
Oh, another thing, so I cleaned and lined her up, wiped her down again, as I was pulling out the cleaning rod, idk if yall know about steel?...but a super thin piece of steel laminate came out of the barrel too.??? ***? This was my first gun so I didnt know if this was normal, or something that happens over time due to bullets firing through, hence is good to keep your barrel clean.
So what I'm looking for is...a operational sidearm, obviously. Lol. More exactly would be a replacement .22 barrel threaded for suppressor use, which if I'm reading and learning correctly is attached to the frame? Secondly the hook price that pulls the casing after firing. I'm such a noob and have no idea if these can be bought and more importantly what these parts are actually called so I can explain the problems to S&W when I call. Just need a little help and knowledge gents...if you would please? Thanks

I think they will either have the threaded barrel in stock or not. A detailed written description of the feeding issues (rather than mentioning specific parts like the extractor) when you send the gun back will probably be most helpful to the gunsmiths and they should take it from there.

Small pieces of metal should not be coming off the gun. Is it very clean and lubricated?

Thanks for the tips. Very clean, well lubricated. Since ownership about 8 years ago. I'll say less than 250 rounds have been fired. The first cleaning is when the steel lamination was pulled from inside the barrel. Since first trip to the range the gun always jammed up on me within 2 mags. It just got so frustrating and not fun to always be pulling out casings or unfired rounds from the barrel. Seemed unsafe and a hassle more than a good time and stress reliever. Kinda added stress dealing with these problems every outing without a doubt. Seems like a lemon from day 1.

Does it have skinny flats on the end of the barrel? AFAIK, the .22s came with threaded barrels. In order to be sold in restricted states (you specified CA), the protector is "locktited" on.

Unlike the M&P22 Compact, S&W offered a CA-compliant model of the M&P22, with a non-threaded barrel and furnished with 10-rd mags vice 12-rd. It's SKU 122002, so it is possible you have non-threaded barrel.

I believe the M&P22 was built by Walther. It shares many parts and uses the same magazines as the Walther PPQ 22 M2.

This. I also have an M&P22 CA and can confirm this. I'll need to dig mine out of the safe to look, but if I remember correctly, these full-sized pistols were actually built by Umarex for Walther/S&W. Normally, that would scare me away, but these are really great guns.

I just joined the forum tonight and was looking through things that aligned with my S&W's. I watched a video last night that compared the M&P 22 Full Size (which I have) to the PPQ (which I am considering). The magazines look identical in design but the video demonstrated that they are not interchangeable. They will not lock into the gun as the distance from the top of the magazine to the locking notch was approximately .100" different.

S&W 22 Mag misfire

I switched ammo to a Hornady ballistic tip, and almost ended my feed/extraction problem. I then read a comment here about tapping your magazine every 3-4 rounds while loading (on a knee or shoe),and my problem went away. I give it a good thump with the bullet tip facing up to make sure the rounds are properly seated on all my magazines now
