G'day, JD. The whole line is called M&P. That includes the Shield, Compact, and Fullsize.
Shield is a subcompact, single stack magazine.
Here at top you have a Fullsize FDE MP9 like yours, next is a .45 Shield, and bottom is a Performance Center .40 that I also have a 9mm barrel for.
The .40 and .45 Shield magazines hold 6 or 7, depending on the baseplate, and the 9mm Shield mags hold 7 or 8 depending on the baseplate.
The 9mm and .40 Shield are the same size overall, but the .45 Shield is a hair fatter, longer barrel and grip as well.
Some states here you're only allowed a 10 round magazine max.
Arizona still being a "free state" we can have 17 round magazines for the MP9.
I thought handgun ownership in Australia was restricted ? Are you limited to 10 round capacity there ?
I live in arid country, so I prefer the FDE look. I put Cerakote finishes on some of my guns, to include my Mini-30's (7.62 x 39) and my .45 Shield.
of course my MP9 came with FDE from the factory.
I'm lovin' that 5 inch barrel on mine, it will group just about any load I have under 2 inches at 25. Much better accuracy than the .40 caliber M&Ps I've owned. But I did replace the trigger, sear, etc. with Apex parts.
I assume you also have some S&W revolvers ?
Let us know how the new MP9 does at the range for you.
