Bodyguard grip upgrade

Looking to add a better grip to my bodyguard 380. I don’t have a problem with accuracy or recoil. It’s just that I have larger hands and that when I draw the pistol, I sometimes fumble with it to hold it properly. I was wondering if a hogue slip on rubber grip would be good or one of those stick on rubber grip tapes.

I put Talon Grips on mine for the same reason. They do help some.

Try some black vet tape-or some skateboard tape

I ended up ordering the Hogue rubber slip on. It was cheap. Easy to our on and take off if I don’t like it. I’ll see how that works out for now.

Hogue

i have the Hogue grips on mine and they do make a big difference for me.

I put the Hogue rubber sleeve on my LCP and it made a huge difference w/my XLG hands.

So far the Hogue is not what I thought it would be. I haven’t fired it yet but these are just my observations just holding it. First it does add thickness. It shows where the rubber grip ends and the magazine meets. Second, it causes my finger to land right on top of the finger bump. Seems like I have this issue with Hogue grips. For some reason I didn’t think it would happen on such a small grip.
I might try shooting with it, but I also might take it off and try the Talon grips or similar.

Does cloth catch or slide off the rubber grip? I had Hogue grips many Years ago, but never wore the guns AIWB. Guns were always carried OWB at 3 o’clock with no shirt or coat to cover them.
I was considering Hogue grips or Talon for my BG 380 & 9mmEZ. Both carried AIWB. Comments welcome.

just tried mine and my fingers are apparently less beefy than yours, as they fit perfectly in the groove.

Get an old bicycle innertube and cut a piece to size - use 2 if you need them. I have average size hands and installed Talon grips on mine, but just to get a feel to the grip I like better. It sounds like you need more girth to your grip; the rubber would supply.

Try the Pachmayr Tactical Grip Glove from Lyman Products. I had one on my Bodyguard and it really helped a lot.

I’ve had this issue before with Hogue grips on that have the finger bumps. Like on my Sig p239 so I should’ve known better. I didn’t think I had overly large hands but apparently I do.

I have one on my LCP, no problems with it grabbing an undershirt on a draw from AIWB.

Thanks MrChicken for your response! I may need to clarify my above question.
I understand that drawing is no problem. My concern is that a t-shirt or other type of shirt material will not slide over the rubber material.
Some rubber grips are harder and shirt material doesn’t catch or snag on them. When you sit down, the shirt just slides over the grip like it does without one. Does this make more sense?

Put Talon Rubber grips on my Bodyguard. LOVE them!

Oh, ok. No problem with that either as long as the shirt isn't tight or really thin. A normal weight t-shirt is what I wear all the time with that LCP.

You can always sand down that grip bump. Start w/ 50-60 grit and go a little smoother for a final surface.

Tacky

I've never shod a Bodyguard with aftermarket rubber, but I have put Pachmyer and Hogue on Ruger LCP's and LC9s. They are all a bit too tacky or sticky for my taste, but they all slick up over time with atmospheric oxidation and stray oil. I don't like grips to be too tacky. It slows down handling. The good news is that all of them are cheap, so go ahead and try what strikes your fancy.

I decided to take off my Hogue grip. I looked into the Pachmyer, but it looks too much like the Hogue. I’d have the same issues.
I don’t mind the tacky feeling. It’s more the profile. Didn’t fit my hand and printed in my pocket way too much.
