Howdy guys, since Sutherland Springs my buddies and I carry full size 52 rounds. For me that's the longslide MP9 2.0 5"

I've been running Alien Gear Cloak Slides. But I've broken 3 shells now, under warranty. I'm a big guy, it's a big gun. AG always sends me a new one, no questions asked. I'm on my fourth. I wish they'd reinforce the shell there (see pic).

I also have the issue of losing a lot of weight, and I'm bonier. I feel a lot better, but the butt digs into my ribs now, all that fat gone.

I'm thinking of trying another holster. So far I've only found Alien Gear and Comp-Tac for the 5" MP9 2.0. Does anyone else know of another OWB holster for my gun?

I have one from JM Custom Kydex. Very pleased and I have not broken one. I’m a big guy too. 6’3” 230lbs.

If you want Kydex, I like the Gunfighter's Inc Ronin. Very close fitting. Leather - Simply Rugged and Milt Sparks are my go-to. Another "hybrid" option is from FOXX, but for OWB I don't particularly like the hybrid design. YMMV.

I have this dream of an OWB that rotates then locks in one of several rotated positions. When you stand up, you release the lock and rotate it back to Std or FBI cant, as you prefer. Then when you sit down you release the lock to rotate it forward even past FBI cant, so it clears your ribs fully, the back of the slide fully forward of your side. Drawing while seated would be a cinch.

I have never seen a holster like that.

I've had good luck with Raw Dog Tactical, who does make an OWB holster for the 5" M&P:
Guardian Pro(R) - Raw Dog Tactical

Having said that, I live in NY, where my opportunities to legally carry are limited, so I can't vouch for the longevity of the holster. They do have a lifetime warranty (which I think means if it breaks, they kill you :)) but I've never had to use it.

Try holster made from boltaron.
I know 2 manufactures who use this material:
- Tucker Gun Leather
- JM4 Tactical

Boltaron is the most reliable material. Stronger than kydex, withstands extreme temperatures, and stands up the struggles of life much better than anything else out on the market.

I have been using Tucker's holsters - if they don't have my handgun model on the list, they add it after phone call.:D

I wrote both and asked about Boltaron because I didn't see it on their web sites.

As this point I might just settle for a good strong forward cant OWB in Kydex, Boltoron, or hybrid.

Here in Texas, I carry my S&W M&P9 M2.0 5" openly in a Safariland 7TS ALS at 3 on a Nexbelt Titan.

When you look at Tucker's holster's description you will find that every holster's shell is made from boltaron.
I'm not sure about all JM4 products, but their "Relic" series is made from boltaron.

I'm revisiting this old thread to update it. I never found an OWB that I really liked (Alien Gear is releasing a new duty holster lineup though, so watch for that soon).

What I did instead was lose 55 lbs by dropping carbs and sugar entirely 8 months ago. Now I can carry appendix ! It's much more comfortable while driving and easy to draw. Consider it as going to a Biblical diet. If it wasn't in the Bible, don't eat it.

Even an OWB holster can be worn appendix under your farmer overalls. I just ordered a Tier 1 Access Elite for this 5" MP9. Looking forward to that.

Six weeks of misery wearing an old OWB on my belly ... retention is dismal. But I rarely do backflips on the dance floor anymore...I'm not FBI. :D
