Shield EZ 9mm - can I add the manual safety?

On S&W 13224 Shield EZ 9mm which is the Performance Center edition. Can I add the manual thumb safety if my wife decides she wants it?

I know #13223 has the manual safety but I can't find that one in stock.

I would think that adding the safety would not be a easy task. While a good gunsmith might possibly do it. However the cost would exspensive. It would be cheaper to just buy the EZ with the safety already installed. Just my humble opinion.

I've seen videos of people removing them and putting the plugs in the frame. I just assumed it would be just as easy to add them. It's the wife's gun so she decided to just order it with the safety. Hopefully it will not take 3 months to get it.

Easy to remove safety from 13223. The frame is already prepared for it. Hard to add safety to 13224 because you have to make extra adjustments.

Good decision - buy safety version and possibly sell the old one.
