Does anyone actually own an M&P40 M2.0 Subcompact?

I posted a WTB post about the Smith & Wesson M&P40 M2.0 Subcompact, but I'm just curious if anyone here actually owns one. I understand that they were only made for a short time, but I've never actually seen one available for sale. Does anyone on here actually have one? I'm just curious about how they compare to the 40c and .40 Shield models. Thanks!

They seem to have come and gone extremely quickly. I could only find one online for sale at over $850, so they seem considerably rare.

Personally, I gave up on getting one and have decided to settle for the last Gen M&P40c instead. From what I can find, the only real difference is that it has longer slide rails which add more weight, and a change to the slide stop to ensure that the slide remains locked open if you slam a magazine in. (Personally, I would rather the slide go home in the instance in which I slam in a fresh magazine in a self-defense scenario.)

Mine has been my EDC for the past couple years. I didn't realize it was that unique. Is the SKU 11691?

The SKU number is 12484 for the one with a manual thumb safety and 12483 for the one without.

When I first heard about how the compact and subcompact versions could both use the same magazines as the full-size M&P40 M2.0, I decided that I just had to own all three.

So, over time, I bought holsters and accessories for all three and was planning on finally getting the subcompact when I got my upcoming stimulus check, but they’re nowhere to be found now.

$850 is a bit pricy for one, but given it’s apparent rarity, I don’t think it’s all that unreasonable. I would probably pay that right now for one in excellent condition.

I’ve even considered getting an M&P9 M2.0 subcompact 3.6” and an M&P40 M2.0 compact 3.6” and seeing if I could build a subcompact.40 out of the pair by swapping the slides, barrels, and other parts. I honestly don’t know if that would even work, though. Any ideas? Advice would be very welcome and greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Looks like the only difference from my gun is the shorter grip. Mine is not being made either. Good luck with your search.

I own a 2.0 compact 4" and used to own a "1.0" 9 compact.

For the m&p line, the older "1.0" series compact is the exact physical size as the new 2.0 subcompact.

If you are just simply looking for that size, then you may have better luck finding a "1.0" compact in 40.

I know there were a few 9mm ones posted recently.

Btw all of the m&p line mags fit the same. I actually use the 10 round mags with the Floyd's base plates in my m&p 2.0 compact.

S&W M&P 10RD COMPACT Low Pro 9MM MAG PLATE

Overall, I had the same thought process as you. Picked up the "1.0" compact. Then wanted a full-size or 2.0 compact. All longer mags fit in the 1.0 compact. It was nice. However I sold it for the opportunity to get a p365 xl...

I have the 1st gen M&P 40C w/ Crimson Trace grip. Also have a NIB Storm Lake 9mm conversion barrel for it.
I could be talked in to letting it go.....

I do see a number of the first generation M&P40c 3.5” compacts for sale online. Even a few brand new ones. I’m just a collector with an obsession about owning the actual second generation M&P40 M2.0 subcompact 3.6” version. After all, I have already gotten the holster and everything for it.

If anyone ever decides to part with one, please let me know your price, as I should have my stimulus check in a few days and that’s number one on my wanted list. My WTB post is officially up about it. Thanks, everyone!
