How Women (Or Anyone With Weak Hands) Can Easily Rack A Pistol Slide - Prepared Gun Owners
The Keys To Easily Racking a Slide …
One, use your strong hand to PUSH the gun instead of trying to pull the slide …
Two, use your bodyweight and hips to help push the slide. Your body weighs more than weight of the recoil spring, so you can do it if you put your weight into it …
Three, keep the gun in close to your body to increase your leverage …

Two words: Handi-Racker
Safest way to rack your pistols Handi-Racker
I have one, and it works as advertised.

the recoil spring is super tough on mine. i left the slide open during storage, after a few weeks, it was a little better. also seemed to help with near-impossible slide release. might not work for you, but easy to try out

some people are limited to revolvers, even with a handi-racker some might not have the strength to rack the slide.

If somebody is able to use Handi-Racker I don't see any reason not to be able to rack the slide with sights using the belt or holster or shoe or table...

I don't think anyone who can stand on their feet and has functional hands would be unable to use the Handi-Racker. At worst, a person could hold the gun in one hand, place that arm's elbow against their hip, and push with their whole body.

True; any surface that "holds" the slide while allowing the frame to move serves the same function as the Handi-Racker. The benefit of the Handi-Racker is that it is portable and has a more consistent and reliable "hold" on a slide than might be the case with other surfaces.

One of the reasons I purchased a Shield 9mm EZ. My 79 YO hands can rack with 2 fingers of necessary.

There is a company named Arachni or something like that that produces grip tape for the slide that is suppose to work quite well. I just sent my slide to CCR for plating, if it's hard to rack I'll be applying tape.

i've read about a few types of racking assisting accessories. a couple of them replace the slide backplate with their own, and attach like a charging handle or leather loop to it. then i've seen one that is like a clamp that tries to hold onto the serrations. not sure if i'd use the handi rack, kind of worried about putting my hand so close to the muzzle each time i have to rack? maybe good for the range but not for carrying and stressful situations?
ok so 3 different ones i've seen, googled the companies' names, Recover Tactical slide rack assist , Clip Draw charging handle slide assist, and Mounts Plus TacRack

I went from a 1.0 Shield 9 to an EZ9 because of an arthritic wrist/thumb limiting the ease/ability in which to rack or even slingshot the slide. I knew of aftermarket tools or add-ons that can help, but in the end I didnt want to have to use something if not totally necessary. Meaning this is also a hobby for me, and not counting the current climate I am not one to rack a gun once and put it away or leave in a holster. A good range trip will involve lots of rounds and countless times maneuvering the slide. And I just preferred not to also require something else to help. Or need something i had to carry with me at all times.
Those items may work well for others, only noting my .02 on the subject.

ArachniGrip.
It's like skateboard tape nicely cut for slide's rear serrations.
I'm not sure if this helps for weak hands. M&P series pistols have already pretty good and aggressive serrations.

Anyone over 65 should be carrying a revolver. I do and I’m only 62.

I ordered this from eBay and installed it today. I’m in my 70’s and have arthritis in my hands and wrists and my 9mm Shield 2.0 was gettin difficult to rack. I’ve not had it to the range but it makes it very easy to grip and rack. I think it’s the solution for my problem.

M&P 2.0 Shield Plus Racking
Thanks for all the responses. I’m not too concerned about being able to rack this gun, but rather just looking to make it easier, especially if in an emergency use situation where my hands may be sweaty etc and could slip when racking it.
The Handi Racker would be great for the range but not in an emergency situation.
.38Superman - I like the look of that gizmo. Will that work on a Shield Plus?
Here’s a pic of the Arachnid product for everyone’s benefit

That should be done only in emergency. You’re pointing your gun at your body as you rack if you do that.

Why do so many people buy a handgun without checking to see if they can even manipulate it until after they get it home?
Even if buying online, one is NOT obligated to blindly accept it. You still have the opportunity to check it for flaws/defects and test the functionality BEFORE accepting it.
If you can't operate the slide, Don't buy it. Rethink your selections.

Isn't it Red M&M stuck in the hole? That's what happens when you pocket carry.

I just got my slide back from CCR plating and sure enough the Arachna tape was very helpful.

I’ve not looked closely at the slide on the plus so can’t really say. I bought it off eBay so you might search for M&P shield slide racket and ask the dealer.
EDIT:
I just did a search and here’s the link of the manufacturer
SCH9 Charging Handle for the Smith & Wesson Shield Mod 1 and 2 9MM SW40 (Including Shield Plus) - Recover Tactical
They state it’s compatible with the Shield +.

The Shields have always been heavily sprung compared to full size M&Ps. The 1'st pistol I had Robar apply their slippery NP3 was my 9c. I never needed any aid to rack that slide and it's still in my carry rotation. My PC Shield + took effort to rack even before I had the slide plated. But with the addition of Aracni Tape it's a non issue as the slide racks very easily now. I can't recommend their product high enough, it really works well.
The fun part is trying to apply it straight.
