17 round mags
Just bought a new S&W M&P 9mm Compact 2.0. It appears to have two spacers in the box with no mention what they are for. I have been told that they are for use of 17 rd. mags. The compact comes with 15 rd. mags. Will any M&P 9mm mags fit using the spacers provided? Thanks, Big Larry

You are correct. They are used to fill the gap when using fullsize (17 round) mags. They also prevent over-insertion. You just slip them on the mag.

I got lucky, I found an ebay ad selling 15 used spacers for the 17rd mags for the 2.0 compact. Now I just need to find 25 more. I bought 40 used LEO trade in mags from aim surplus at 15 each, got em in and they look purt near to new.

Thanks guys. I really don't need 17 rds, but I have large hands and the grip will be better. I know there are a lot of used mags out there, but I only need one or two. Thanks again, Big Larry

He posted pics of the 1.0 Compact. In 2.0 speak, that’s the subcompact. On the subcompact, full capacity is 12 rounds on 9mm. The full size mag adds 5 rounds.

Yes, you are correct. This one posted is for extra 5 rounds.
I just thought that pictures made it easier to understand the idea of using spacers.

I’m sorry. I’m trying to wrap my head around $600 for 40 mags for one pistol.

S&W's spec sheet for the M&P9 2.0 3.6" Compact says "Includes two magazine sleeves for use with a 17-Round Full Size Magazine."

Just one of my strange little quirks is all. I like to have tons of spare mags and at least 2 rebuild kits for each mag. I do have a Glock 17, gen 1 bought it when they first became available but for the most part I'm a 1911 and Beretta 92fs type. Back when I had my FFL I purchased the inventory of a parts dealer when he went out of business so I have tons and tons of mags for the 1911 and 92fs and BHP and literally 10 rebuild kits per. I tend to number my magazines and shoot at least weekly. I work hard and play hard and end up doing 60 hours or so a week in a 40 hour work week, and at my hourly rate, overtime puts me way way into over spending on gun toys.

Clarification, please. I have an M&P40 M2.0 compact and my barrel is 4" (or 4.1" according to the case). Are you wrong, am I wrong or are we actually talking about different guns?

The 2.0 compact comes in both barrel lengths. Both are 15 rounds and use the same spacer.

I believe we are discussing different guns
I previously posted S&W's spec sheet for the M&P9 2.0 3.6" Compact which says "Includes two magazine sleeves for use with a 17-Round Full Size Magazine."
M&P8 M2.0 Compact - No Thumb Safety - 3.6" Barrel - 15 Rounds - 9mm - SKU: 11688
S&W's spec sheet for the M&P40 2.0 4.0" Compact says "Includes two magazine sleeves for use with a 15-Round Full Size Magazine."
M&P40 M2.0 Compact - 4.0" Barrel - 13 Rounds - 40 S&W - SKU: 11684

depends on the S&W sku number
I also just came into a M&P, Model 2.0, 4" 9mm. Came with 2 - 15 round mags and spacers for using full size 17 round mags.
Look at your box end tag for the SKU. Mine is 11683 which (see photo attached of spec sheet) is 4" bbl, 15 round mags.
You attached spec sheet for sku 11684 which is same gun but 13 round mags and with spacer let you use full size 15 round mags.

My oversight "The Monk". GC70 and CMANSGUNS picked up on it.
The 9mm Compact is 15 rounds, full size is 17. The .40 cal is 13 rounds, full size is 15. Both Compact mags are the same length. Both fullsize mags are the same length. So the spacers fit either caliber.
Jurek above posted pics of the 1.0 Compact, which is equivalent to the 2.0 Subcompact. Yeah, I know, confusing. In 9mm, capacity is 12 rounds, 10 for .40/.357, hence the need for the longer spacer.

If you treat M&P9 and M&P40 as totally different handguns - all become clear and easy to understand.
And, unfortunately, some of M&P9 M2.0 models differ from M&P9 M1.0 models.

Magazines for Rifles, Handguns and Shotguns | GunMag Warehouse
This one is the cheapest if you buy Pro-Mags... but I would not use this product in any of my firearms...
If you go with factory mags, they have them in a "regular" price.
Greg Cote, LLC is the supplier I trust and he has good prices.

Thanks, guys. I'm used to SIG P320s which have their own idiosyncracies, some of them similar when it comes to different variations of the same basic pistol. (i.e. I EDC an X Compact which is NOT the same size as a Compact but has the same length barrel as the old subcompact.) Looks like I've got a lot to learn.

You can check periodically by UPC number for S&W factory magazines.
ACT-Mag (long-time makers of excellent SIG P220 mags) also makes M&P magazines which are imported by Armscor/Rock Island Armory.

Sorry to revive an old thread, but how do the rock island mags compare to OEM? I've tried the promag ones and wasnt a fan.

I've got in the area of 50 rock island beretta mags for my 92's. So far they've held up fine at the range. They've all handled about 10 reloads each and not one malf.
