Looking for opinions on the M&P 2.0 Compact in 9 mm. Looking to get an optic ready Glock 19 size carry pistol and the M&P Compact is on my short list of options.

Would like any input anyone has on their experience/likes/dislikes. Other choices on my list are Shadow Systems MR920, CZ p-10 compact and Lone Wolf LTD V1.

The M&P is a few hundred cheaper than the other choices.

Any input is welcome.

My M&P 2.0 Compact is very accurate so no need for the M&P 2.0 5inch. Only thing don't like is the grip texture with cold hands. I haven't checked lately M&P mags have been out of stock . I have a extra M&P 17 rd and couple ACT-Mags 17 rd mags that work fine. Two spacers are included with new pistol

Buy the m&p but they do offer a few models . I bought m&p compact 4" thats optic ready with thumb safety . old 1911 guy
! I then added a holoson 507c-gr x2 . Love that green circle for typical defensive drills but the dots fun when reaching out tp 50 yards . I added a few apex trigger group upgrades, some can use some help others are fine as they are . .

I edc mine also. Ive added a holosun 507c, apex trigger and a performance center sear block and components. I dont have experience with the other pistols you mentioned, but have had zero issues with this pistol, its way better than i will ever be!!

My M2.0 Compact 4 inch is my EDC gun, and I wouldn’t trade it for two of any other pistol on the market. I have owned and carried a variety of pistols from Glock, SIG, Smith, Springfield, Colt, Beretta, H&K, FN and others over the years. There isn’t any of them that I’ve been as fond of as my M2.0 Compact. Like the Glock 19, it is about as close to perfect as you can get in terms of size. The bit of added weight and the additional metal in the frame make it feel like a better built handgun to me though. I love the grip texture (although I always wear an undershirt), and the trigger is very good in my opinion. Mags were a challenge to track down for a while, but I recently found some spares and ordered them. In a Tulster holster IWB, the gun is super comfortable, and disappears beneath a loose fitting shirt. Mine is on my person as I type this, and will be on my nightstand when I go to bed tonight. Can’t say enough good things about this handgun. It would be the last pistol I would part with.

BigDog48, If you haven't already, since you are in the Raleigh area I would suggest checking out Fuquay Gun in Fuquay Varina. They are now a Smith & Wesson Ambassador dealer and have a large selection of Smith & Wesson as well as magazines in stock. If I didn't already have two Glock 19's the M&P Compact would certainly be on my short list.

Thanks — I will be heading there. My two choices other than the 2.0 compact are the CZ P-10c, and the Shadow Systems MR920 and they have both. Another choice is having my Glock19 slide milled, but I’m inclined to sell it and Fuquay has always been fair with their offer when I sold a pistol.

My department issued the Glock but I prefer my M&P 2.0 Compact for home protection, range time and Law Enforcement Officer Safety Act annual qualification. It’s a better value in every respect and as easy to carry as the Glock if you decide to EDC.

My 2.0 compact 4inch is my edc, I don’t run an optic on it. I’m not fond of tying to conceal a pistol that size w/ an optic. Tried several similarly sized pistols and liked the M&P th best, felt better in my hand. Especially after switching out the medium palm swell for the medium/large.

I put an Apex curved polymer trigger on it, replacing springs, sear, and the sear plunger. Also, fitted an Apex barrel. It was plenty accurate before the Apex barrel, and it still made a significant improvement once I got used to the new trigger. The Apex is much smoother than the factory trigger. The “wall” is much more tactile and the break cleaner, reset also much better. Didn’t realize how much I was compensating for the stock mushy/gritty hinged trigger. Now it’s by far the best polymer framed pistol I’ve ever shot.

I also added Ghost MOAB baseplates to all of my magazines. Much better than stock.

90% of the time, I carry my Shield. However, my 4” 9c carries much easier than my full size 4.25” 9mm, and both have good accuracy.

I have a 4" 2.0 compact that I got to replace a gen. 4 Glock 19. I have been trying to go to guns with slide stop/slide release on the right side for a lefty. I then also got a Glock 45 witch is a 19 length with 17 length grip. Also has controls on both sides. I put an Apex (Flatty) trigger in the 2.0 compact as well. I really like it and will probably start carrying it instead of my Shield as a EDC. I am going to put a Holosun on one of them and train with it.
I have also owned a CZ p-10C. They are also great guns and I am sure the S model would be great as well. I have handled the Shadow models and like them a lot. They addressed several issues that folks didn't like about Glocks. Very nice pistol.
I have put custom triggers in a few striker fired pistols and I will say that the Apex flat trigger is the best I have encountered to date.

I have a Gen 1 M&P with apex trigger- good gun that served me well, but is in the safe. I’ve since moved to the CZ P10 and SIG P320s. Both serve my needs slightly better than the M&P 1.0. I use my guns in my local IDPA games and give them a good workout. (What doesn’t work for me is the Glock- predominately due to grip angle- but I respect the gun’s design)

That said, have been considering getting a 2.0 compact.

My takeaway is most striker guns from reputable manufacturers will serve you well, it’ll come down to personal preferences in grip, cost, sights, aftermarket availability, etc. All of the available options out there will do the job, you’ll need to find the one that fits your needs, preferences best.

There really is no bad option, only options that work better for YOU.
