Have any of you fine members fired both the regular Shield Plus and the Performance Center version? I just got my regular Shield Plus OR and took it to the range today and absolutely HATE the trigger. My old PC Shield 1.0 has a great trigger and wondered if the PC Shield Plus is any better than the non-PC version. I know when I bought my OG Shield a lot of people were complaining about the non-PC triggers and that was one reason I bought the PC.

Sorry, I’ve never shot a PC Shield Plus nor a regular (non-Plus) Shield 1.0 or 2.0. But I’m curious to know what is about the Shield Plus trigger you hate? I have a Shield Plus and find its trigger to be fantastic. Have you shot any other Shield Plus to compare?

I have a recently purchased Shield Plus PC and the trigger is great IMHO. It has a short take up and a crisp break I would estimate at about 4 pounds. The reset is very short and tactile. I've never tried the non-PC Plus so can't give a direct comparison between the two but I can say it is a much better trigger than my Sig P365.

No, I haven’t. It’s kind of rough on the pull then the reset is horrible. It goes about 90% of the way back before a not very crisp reset. At least, not nearly as crisp and precise as my PC Shield 1.0. I ran one box through it and couldn’t stand it anymore.

Thank you. I’m hoping the PC version is much better than this. The trigger weight (pull) is fine, but it’s a bit rough and the reset is mush and retracts about 90% before resetting. I love my current PC Shield but I’d really like the extra rounds and optics ready for a red dot. The old eyes are having trouble with the sight picture while wearing trifocals. Also, the night sights are nice but mine aren’t even close to accurate. Consistently low and to the left. I can adjust the left but not the low.

I have both. Not much difference between them. But, absolutely nothing rough in the pull, great trigger. The PC trigger seems a tad lighter, but never measured them. Reset is pretty much as you describe. Definitely not audible for me with ears on and not tactile either. I don't ride trigger reset anyway, so not an issue for me. Shooting low/left, not likely the guns fault.

I’m going to call next week and see if I can get them to look at it under warranty. It feels like there’s maybe a burr on one of the parts. Very rough. Shooting low/left is definitely the guns fault. I had my PC Shield with me and with the same ammo grouped them all dead center. The Plus was shooting a good 4 inches low at 15 ft. Groups were tight, just nowhere near the center.

I also had trouble with sights on my Sig P365 with bifocals and also was usually shooting low left. Traded that Sig in on Shield Plus PC 4" Ported with the CT-1550 red dot. First trip to the range last week, no more shooting low left with the PC's better trigger and with the red dot I have no trouble shooting 2" groups at 10 yards. Rapid fire at 7 yards can keep a mag full inside 5", half the circle I could do with the Sig.

Just got done cleaning a brand new Shield Plus PC and checked the trigger weight. Have not shot it yet. The trigger weight is hard for me to get as the Timney gauge hook slips up on the blade but I was getting 4.25-4.5 lbs consistently when I could get it to catch. Great trigger out of the box. Little take up and a very crisp light break. I traded a P365 in for it. The 365 had about the same trigger weight but although smooth, the pull was long and mushy. I didn't like it. When I check for reset function and hold the trigger back while racking the slide, the reset is very short and I hear an audible click (I wear hearing aids) and can feel it. I'll let you know how it does in actual shooting once I get to the range this week.

I guess I should have bought a PC version, but they only have the optics cut slide in the 4” barrel and apparently you can only get it with a CT sight already installed. I haven’t read much good about the included CT sight but would prefer a Holosun anyways. I absolutely love the trigger on my OG PC Shield. The weight and break of the Shield Plus trigger is fine, it’s after that mine goes to hell. Very rough. Hopefully they’ll take it under warranty and fix the roughness and the sights.

Shield Plus PC Trigger

I had the same condition with my Plus PC trigger. I contacted Smith and sent it in. While I don't know exactly what they found and corrected, as soon as I dry fired I could tell the difference. And at the range it was flawless. My initial comparison was my .45 Shield PC, so I had certain expectations when I first got the 9mm Plus PC.

Thanks, DEP801. I’m about to travel so when I get back I’m going to call S&W for certain. I’ll see what they say.
