I recently bought an M&P Compact 10mm. S&W (and all retailers) has zero, none, nada 10mm magazines for sale. And they won't say when they will have them.

In the meantime, I recently read that S&W's 45acp M&P 2.0 C magazine can be used in S&W's 10mm Compact.

Certainly, the 10mm and 45acp magazines are almost identical in all dimensions. And the 45acp magazines are readily available for sale.

But I'm not gonna be the pioneer - I don't want to use a 45acp magazine in my 10mm Compact only to have something bad happen.

Anyone have any experience with this "45acp magazine in a 10mm Compact" swap?

I seen someone try it on youtube it worked a little till one round pointed straight up. Might work with the right follower
.

Just because they fit, doesn't mean they work reliably. The followers and spacing on the feed lips are different. Possibly mag springs. Bear in mind the 10mm is still a .40 cal. vs .45 cal. There are other size differences as well. These differences can cause malfunctions.

There's an old thread about this, where one of the members looked at the mags side by side.

He reported that by just looking at them, the feed lips are different widths, lengths, and present the round at different angles, so at the range the things would probably work most of the time, it's not something you want to count on.

Even when I’ve called S&W, they won’t give any info about extra mags.
I’m really thinking about dumping mine.
I bought it as my EDC gun, but only 2 mags...
Nope.
