I had a Hogue 18400 Handall grip sleeve on my Gen 1 Shield and it made the grip perfect for me. I purchased the same grip sleeve for my Shield Plus, but the palm swell on the 18400 sleeve makes the grip on my Shield Plus feel too thick. I purchase a Pachmayr 05179 grip for my Shield Plus, but I see it also has a palm swell. Does anyone have a suggestion for a grip sleeve that will add a bit of thickness to the grip of my Shield Plus with out an added palm swell?

You could go 'Old School'...
Bicycle Innertube.
Just make sure to not get the 'Self-Sealing' kind by mistake. :)

Try the Pachmayr, it is the same thickness all over.
The Pachmayr grip sleeve I ordered states on the package that it has a palm swell. I haven't opened the package to check. Can you suggest a Pachmayr model that doesn't have a palm swell?

Must be the newer model, I have had several and none have been anything but flat.

Go to the Pachmayr web-site, it will initially say it is Lyman.

As Robz Guns said, a section of bicycle inner tube will work, but the rubber is smooth and different. It will be slick and not sticky like the gun accessory products.

I'll second the vote for Talon Grips. If one layer isn't enough you can add a second to build up the thickness.

I asked Hogue this question. “For the Plus we recommend item 18300. The fitment will still be difficult and the grip will be tight, but we find it to currently be the best fit.”

Thanks, I had sent Hogue a message through their website this weekend. I didn't expect to hear from them until later this week.

I sent a message to Pachmayr through their website asking if they had a grip sleeve that will fit my Shield Plus that has no palm swell. We'll see what they recommend.

I found the 18300 Hogue grip sleeve on their website. It's made for the M&P Shield 45. The description of this state's that it also has the palm swell. The Hogue 18400 grip sleeve does fit the Shield Plus, but it's pretty darned tight. It just has the palm swell that I don't like.

I use a Pachmayr grip sleeve on my M&P Shield 40 and It is very comfortable

This is the response I got from Pachmayr.

All of our grip sleeves have a palm swell. There are no other sleeves that have it any less unfortunately and the one you have is the exact model needed for your gun.

The Pachmayr does have a swell but the grip overall is thinner and a lot easer to get on and off. You can also try it upside down for a different feel.

I have found the Pachmayr rubber to be thinner and a lot easier to S-T-R-E-T-C-H than the typical Hogue product...

But I've used both (on different guns!) and have applied both Talon Grips & the generic "cut to fit" grip tape product as well. A good X-Acto Knife comes in pretty handy!;)

Cheers!

I paid $11 for this Talon clone, thin rubber. It fits my Shield9 Plus perfectly. It's very thin and no palm swell. There is also a custom fit rubber piece for the 13 round extension.

I trimmed the left side where my thumb rides. Personal preference.

I went ahead and installed the Pachmayr grip sleeve on my Shield Plus. It was almost easy compared to installing the Hogue grip sleeve. If I remember correctly the Pachmayr grip sleeve added about the same thickness to the palm swell on my Shield as the Hogue grip sleeve, but since the Hogue grip sleeve runs higher up on the back of my Shield's grip, the Pachmayr grip feels a lot more comfortable.
The grip on my Shield Plus is now slightly wider than the grip on my full size M&P 2.0 with the medium-large back strap at the widest points, but I can live with that. Thank you for all of your recommendations.
