New guy here with a question, I just bought a 10mm 2.0 and the sights are way too tall. the bullet strike hits about 5 inches low and i really don't want to shoot it different than my other handguns.

I also don't want a red dot on it either. i'd prefer fiber optic sights and not the tritium night sights. I won't be putting a can on it either to need the tall sights. i have owned Smith handguns for many years. this is my first 10mm. i have also read some horror stories about them here.

So far i don't have any of the FTF and mag drop issues BUT i have not fired the gun much cause of the low hitting sights. Does tru glo make a good sight for ir and if not who?

Thanks for reading and any response. below is a sample of how it's hitting. now i'm not a crack shot so be nice. lol

I tried raising up as you can see from the bottom shots, but it covers my whole site picture and still didn't go high enough. even trashed my el cheapo target stand.lol

That was 10 yards and magtech 180 grain flat nose ammo. I tried several points of aim and the ones at the bottom of the green circle was me aiming at the top of the target with the three dots aligned and centered.

Your pistol comes equipped with combat sights. The correct sight picture is where the front dot is on the desired point of impact.
I wish S&W would point this out to purchasers.

So put the dot where you want the bullet to hit.

Done that, but i center the front with the back and at same height on where i want to hit. where should the back two dots configure with the front?

Thanks for the diagram, the combat sight picture is what i try a use on everything. when i use it on the 10mm it hits way down at the bottom of the target.

Sorry to hear, mine never failed to feed but like i said i didn't fire it much. no sense in wasting ammo on something i wasn't going to be able to hit the target.

I would first move the target up to 7 yards. Take a look at your grip, weak hand is it tight up against the trigger guard, fingers tight and weak index off the outside of the trigger guard. I spent 35 years in LE and now working at a public range. Constantly correcting poor grip/mechanics.Those that shoot low usually have weak index on the trigger guard. I doubt there is an issue with the sights. My 10mm 4.6 is right on..** Having thought I had seen it all at the range today I had a shooter closing his dominant , right eye and shooting left eye,we determined he was right eye dominant and now he is on target.

Absolute worst case is aftermarket M&P .45 adj sights. Same dovetail cuts reported here. [ame]https://www.amazon.com/Sight-Adjustable-Military-Police-SPF02SW/dp/B00ORXZC1I[/ame] for example. You should be able to find fiber optic adj sights.

It looks like the center of your group is 3" low - based on the length of the grip.
This is exactly what happens when a new shooter "tries" to put the dot on the desired point of impact but is actually peeking over the top of the sights when they break the shot.
You have to let the dot on the front post completely obscure the center of the target, or you will always shoot low. Takes practice, especially if you have other pistols with target (center hold) sights.

How does it shoot from a rest? That's showed me up a when shooting low with a Kahr and right with a Sig.

That last cluster at the center bottom was from a rest and was aiming at up near the top of the target. Putting the front sight over the target lined up with the two on back and it hits at the very bottom of the target. that's how i hit the stand.

I shot this today out of an XDM 10mm. it was first time to shoot it too. one on the left is learning sight picture but it was pretty much on like i normally shoot. but it has lower sights too. the two flyers i flinched. lol I definitely am not an expert shot, but love to shoot. but i don't like them tall sights.

Don’t feel bad. I’m not yet sold on the whole red dots for pistols thing yet, and I can’t bring myself to buy a handgun with suppressor height sights as I think they look absurd. I have been hoping that Smith would release a version of the 10mm M&P with normal sights for those of us stuck in the stone ages of pistol shooting.
