Cool Very Good Experience with the Holosun Optic

Had my new S&W M&P 2.0 9mm 4 inch Optic Ready with a Holossun HE507C-GR X2 to the range for the third time today. I find this optic greatly enhances the accuracy and shooting experience, at least for me. Not sure if it is just personal preference or some sort of optical advantage, but I think the Holosun is great.

I went from handgun shooting for over 50 years with standard iron sights, then to quality night sights, then to fiber optic sight, and now to the Holosun, and this has made the single biggest step forward for me than any of the previous sight changes.

I find the green reticle on the Holosun quicker and easier to acquire than any previous type of sight. The Holosun is also easy to adjust. I initially zeroed it in on the M&P at home using a laser bore sighter, which typically gets my sights extremely close if not right on, then only needed a very few clicks at the range to get it right on. I find the green reticle stands out on the target much brighter than any red dot I have tried. This may be a very subjective personal preference, but that green reticle really lights up bright on the target. I left the Holosun on auto adjust but it has the ability to manually adjust, as well as 3 different reticles to select from, a bright green dot, or a green circle, or a green dot inside a green circle. The Holosun also has solar panels fail safe on top that will power it if the battery dies down, which is not likely to happen as it is rated for 50,000 hours of operation on a battery. Its default setting is to go to sleep after 10 minutes of no motion but that can be manually changed, and the shake awake technology brings the light on as soon as you lift up the pistol. Seems like a lot of great technology built in.

Just my $ .02 on the Holosun in case anyone is interested.

I haven't tried a Holosun, but lots of people like them. I, too, find a green reticle easier to see than a red one. I never realized that until I tried my son's green dotted Vortex Spitfire. I liked it so much that I had to buy one, too.

I purchased the larger 510 model a few years ago. Haven’t changed the battery since I bought it. And it has been mounted on multiple guns. Great sight and very stout construction. I’ve been toying with the idea of mounting a red dot on my 66-8. I think that would greatly outperform the chunky factory sights.

I want a Holosun 507/407 but can't justify a red dot that costs more than the pistol I am putting it on, so I have two SIG Romeo Zeros on my SIG P365XL & Springfield Hellcat OSP currently
The red/green dot on my AR-15 is much easier to see the green dot than when it is red, seems like our eyes just pick that color up better for what its worth
Good Luck with your Holosun too BTW

I love Holosun as well.
I was "iron sights" guy but somehow convinced myself to try an optics.
Because I was worried that any optic would cover front vision I went with DeltaPoint 2.5 MOA. (big window)
Then a friend of mine let me shoot his handgun with Holosun 507C-GR-X2 and that moment I knew Holosun is the best direction for me.
I eventually ended up with "HE507C-GR-X2 ACSS Vulcan Reticle" and found it the best optic for me.
With my vision I couldn't decide which MOA size would work better for me. I wanted be fast in short distances and precise at long distance the same time. Green chevron at that optic made this for me, giving 1 MOA equivalent at the top of chevron and 10 MOA as the whole chevron.
Now I can shoot faster and more accurate.

I echo the feelings about the Holosun brand. We now have 8 optic mounted pistols at this time. We currently have Trijicon, Burris, Holosun, and Shields mounted on various models.

Smaller dot sizes for the most precise work, big seem to be the way to go for faster and close in work. Green is the absolute most visible for the wife and I.

ANY carry gun we now use has a RDS sight on it. It’s the absolute easiest and fastest way to shoot a firearm, the main problem with people using them is they are too lazy to learn how to run them correctly.

Holosun has a program where you can purchase two of their optics directly from them if you qualify at about a 33% discount. LEO, military, etc.

We are current replacing all our other optics with Holosun brand. I sent one in for warranty, it had developed a bit of rust on the adjustment screws, they sent a whole new sight out within a week.

Latest acquisition is a SCS mounted on my daily carry. It runs well. I’ll try and post a picture of it later.

Regards from the Bluegrass,
Rick Gibbs

I have Holosuns on 4 handguns and 3 rifles. Great optic for the $$$. As much as I would prefer to buy from somewhere other than China.inc, it's very hard to justify the 50-60% premium for Trijicon or Aimpoint when the Holosun performance is just as good. Mine have been run hard with no issues, and I've seen lots of them run through classes I've instructed. I've yet to seen one fail.

I really like the new AEMS optic, and it has replaced Aimpoint PROs on two of my carbines. Haven't had them long enough to give a long term assessment, but I expect they'll be every bit as good as the handgun sights.

I have Holosuns on a Sig Rattler SBR and a B&T TP9 SBR. I like them very much.

When looking for this type of optic I tried every brand I could get my hands on. The Holosun is the only one I tried that I could use with my Astigmatism. All others were grossly distorted. The "dots" were commas or lines. The circles were starbursts. The Holosuns are not perfect, but have much less distortion for my particular type of Astigmatism.

I tried to register on the Holosun website but it rejected both email address I used, ones that I know were valid. I didn't seen anything about a discount for military or first responders.

You have to actually call them, and they explain how to register for the program. I qualified as a Veteran and LEO.

You can buy two optics from them per year.

I have a 510-cgr on my Sport 2 and love it, works great for my eyes and needs. Never thought of one on a handgun but that does sound interesting.

I just installed a HE512C-GD on an AR build. It's a gold dot. It works great. Shows up fine in bright sunlight. I only used it at the range, so I can't really speak to how well it might show up in different environments, but I like it a lot. Sub-$300 optic.

I've also had great experiences with Holosun. Very glad I made the switch to red (and green) dots. They're definitely a capability-enhancing tool.

I have a few trusted friends that I turn to when I need real-life recommendations for gear. Both of them have about two decades of law enforcement experience with a lot of time in SWAT. And both are deep into shooting.

When I ask either of them about red dot optics for pistols, they both recommend Aimpoint and Holosun (they tie for first place). Trijicon is in a close second/third place.

I only have one red dot; it's an Aimpoint ACRO P-1. After several thousands of rounds through my Glock 17 it still holds its aim without any issue. I'm not kind to that gun, but it takes its licking.

For my next glass I'll try Holosun—just so I have experience with both.

Mike

I have a Holosun 507C on my 9mm Pro & I love it. I'm old, so I need glasses for everything. Had bifocal shooting glasses made for front sight focus and distance, so it was always a PITA. With the red dot all I need is distance glasses since you focus on the target, not on the front sight.

A few weeks ago went to the range with a friend, we were having a good time shooting each others guns and a couple of rentals. Mostly at 5-10 yards and doing OK. I said lets go for some distance so at 25 yards got a dead center bullseye with my first shot!

Right now having my 9mm Shield Plus milled for a Holosun 507K. Can't wait to get it back.

I’m glad you guys like your Holosun’s….I just tried a 507k. I disliked the lack of auto adjust, the reticle was too large in the window….and the worst was it magnified the image about 125% which made it seem blurry.

I’m sticking with the CT RAD PRO, despite its lack of waterproofing. Holosun does that and a durable housing very well.

K models don't have auto adjust? It looks like we all have 507c's here. It does.

Looking for a Black Friday sale on Holosun 510c green dot. Looks like getting a discount is a dream.

Green dots are much better for my eyes than red.

I have a Vortex with both green and red but always keep it on green.

While I like buying firearms and accessories at Cabellas because of the real nice shopping environment and great selection, they are typically not the best price on firearms when I shop around, but does look like they do have some decent prices on Holosun optics.

How are they better other than the additional circle around the dot? Or do you mean that’s what better about them? I was told they were exactly the same otherwise.

I agree with comments on Holosun. I'm currently breaking this setup in to become my EDC.
