I have the older hinged trigger MP Compact 2.0 4" gun and really like it. But have never been too crazy about the hinged trigger. I've thought about changing it out with the Apex flat trigger kit.
But with SW turning out production guns with the flat trigger was thinking why not just buy new and sell the old model.
Anyone want to give their thoughts on their change to the newer models with the flat trigger?

I installed a Apex poly flat faced trigger kit and found unless I have a perfect press the front sight has a tendency to jump upwards a hair.

Previously with the curved trigger the front sight would jump a hair to the left with anything less then a perfect press.

In the Shield, I think the new trigger is an improvement. It has a good feel to it.
I've never shot an M&P with the new trigger yet. I'm hanging on to my old ones.

I have 3 "old" M&Ps with the factory curved trigger.
I have a new Shield plus with the flat trigger. I like it a lot, but have no plans to change triggers in the old guns or replace the guns with newer models. I shoot them all better than I thought I could ever shoot a pistol. Practice, practice, practice.;)

I can see flat triggers for long range precision rifles but for pistols I think they are a fad...

Flat Trigger Thumbs Up

I have had the Shield PC 9mm for several years and very much liked the curved hinged trigger. Recently acquired a new M&P 2.0 Compact 4 inch with the new S&W flat trigger, and was not sure how I would like it. However, after buying it and having it to the range a few times find that I like the new S&W flat faced trigger trigger even better. Don't think I can explain exactly why I like it better, but I just do.

My 3 Shields 9/40/45 have the hinged triggers and I like them a lot I HATE triggers with a swinging dingus sticking out the front. That alone will probably keep me from buying anymore plastic bullet squirters.

I prefer the flat over the curved hinged trigger
The PC Shield Plus has a much better trigger pull than the 2.0

I have 3 M&Ps, all 1.0s, with the hinged trigger. Love the guns. Not a fan of the trigger shoe , specifically the location of the hinge.

When I grip any of them, the pad of my finger naturally settles into the "valley" of the trigger, right at the hinge. If my finger is a smidge too high, the trigger safety will hang a bit. It also feels a bit to "flexy". However, it's not so bad that I'd replace them with something more solid (well, no yet).

My only flat trigger experience is with my 320. It doesn't have a trigger safety so finger placement doesn't matter. However, as with my M&P, my trigger finger tends to ride a bit high on the shoe. No valley here to index on. This yields a higher "effective" trigger weight due to the reduced leverage. On my 320, I prefer the curved trigger (still no trigger safety).

Don't have any similar issue with my other poly strikers (HK, Wather) and their trigger safeties.

I really like flat triggers and the new M&P version is nice. That said, I’m used to the older triggers and those are on all of my current M&Ps. I don’t find the hinged trigger to be a problem, but we all have our preferences so if you want to go flat I think you’ll probably like the change.

You don’t have to sell the gun either. They aren’t too easy to find right now but the new factory flat trigger/trigger bar will drop right in to your 2.0 compact. I know there are guys on eBay selling M&P parts - that’s how a few of our guys got them.

I handled an M&P 10mm recently and was not excited about the trigger. It seemed to scrape the frame on take-up (or had internal issues) and was at least 6 pounds. The safety tab protrudes too much and feels flimsy.
Just one gun, of course, maybe others are smoother.

I have an M&P Pro that originally came with a curved trigger. Didn't like it. Had it replaced with an Apex flat trigger, like it a lot better.

Also gave a Shield Plus that came with a flat trigger, like it too.

I traded my Gen 1 Shield for my Shield Plus for the added ammo capacity, not the trigger. I was completely satisfied with the trigger on my Gen 1 Shield. I liked my Gen 1 so much that I tried to buy it back, but it was gone. Like Bullet Bob said "Never get rid of a gun you really like".

I have a M&P 2.0 compact and fitted the flatty Apex trigger kit to it almost right away. It is a great improvement over the stock trigger. I also have a 1.0 Shield with the Apex duty carry kit installed. That trigger is also far superior to the stock hinged trigger.

I have 3 M&P 9c’s and an M&P 40c, and also an M&P 22c. I don’t like the hinged trigger on the M&P’s and I do wish Smith & Wesson would change the triggers. I have installed the Apex triggers on 2 of the M&P 9c’s and there is such a great improvement in trigger pull and reset and I highly recommend them.

Oops, that’s wrong. I just realized the Original Poster said that S&W had came out with a flat trigger. That’s good, maybe it’s better than the hinged trigger, I hope.

SKU 11828 (M&P M2.0 5" PC non-ported 9mm CORE) with an
SRO is my IDPA competition gun. Yeah, I know, I should shoot
a carry gun in IDPA. Anyway, my A-zone misses went down a
lot and time relative to others improved quite a lot when I
installed an S&W M2.0 flat trigger (not Apex) in this gun. I'm
a big fan of this trigger and will install it in more of my M&P
pistols.

Since I'm an "if it ain't broke don't fix it" kind of guy, and I'm quite satisfied with how all my hinged trigger M&P's shoot, I'll just stick with what I've got.

I did get a chance to shoot my son's Shield plus and while the trigger is different, I don't think I'd say it's better. Maybe I'm not that particular about triggers although I have changed out ones I didn't like on several guns.

Honestly I just got used to mine. I have used the original M&P 9 as well as the Shield Plus recently, they improved the trigger somewhat but kept the curve.
