Default Holster suggestions

Anyone have any good holster suggestions for a M&P 2.0 10mm 4.6 with a red dot. I like wethepeople holsters but they do not offer an optic cut holster. I understand the M&P 45 holsters also work but haven’t had much luck there either. Not sure IWB or OWB I’m mainly carrying in the woods and on my property so not sure what is most comfortable. My shield plus in IWB is what I usually carry and don’t hardly notice it. Thanks.

OWB is more comfortable. Do you need to be able to take holster on and off quickly? A pancake style holster works great OWB for me but you have to take off your belt (half way anyway) to put the holster on or take it off.

Prepare for waterboarding!

Then you need to decide kydex or leather. I have kydex OWB holsters for 2 Glocks and leather for anything else but YMMV.

Next up: do you want a thumb break/retention strap? (There are other retention devices too for some kydex holsters). My advice is only go with a thumb break if every holster you have includes the same type. You don’t want to have to think about drawing a firearm.

Then there’s availability for your gun. Adding red dot compatibility will narrow your choices a lot. Not necessarily a bad thing - just need to make sure it’s compatible with your setup. Go to several holster makers’ sites and try to find holsters for your gun with a red dot. Do the same at Brownells and Midway.

I’ve had success with Galco holsters. They are not the least expensive nor the highest $$$. There are lots of kydex holster makers - startup costs aren’t that high - but my experience has been mixed. Some are good and some don’t fit that well. (If you can tip the holster upside down with a loaded gun in it and the gun falls out - that’s BAD.)

I’m sure others will be along who can be more helpful with specifics.

I have a gunfightersinc for my 4.6 10mm with optic.. They make an excellent KYDEX with positive retention OWB.

Currently have a Blackhawk OWB with a thumb retention lock but the gun rides very high and seems to almost tilt out pointing the muzzle towards me. With the top sticking out so far it’s easy to smack the rear sights on doorways or anything. Like to find something that the gun rides lower in so it will stick to my side flatter.

I had Gordon make me a Rhodesian holster based on the recommendation of a departed forum member. My full size MP9 with an RMR is extremely comfortable, fast to draw, and surprisingly concealable for a full size pistol. I am pretty sure he can make you one for the 10mm.

I highly recommend ANR Kydex. Not sure if their standard holster accommodates your optic.

I emailed them. They do not have the 10mm or the .45 listed in 4.6

If your pistol will fit in a holster for M&P 2.0 45, Black Rhino Concealment has fitment for that with or without a red dot. Or a light. Might be worth looking at their site. They were helpful on the phone when I was looking for a holster for a pistol most makers don’t accommodate. I’m not saying that they make the best kydex holsters ever. However, retention was GTG, details seem refined, and they fit my odd gun.

A lot of holsters are made to allow you to sit down comfortably, and that results in a higher ride than I’d like sometimes. I recently got one for a Sig P365 XL that does exactly what you described - with a fully loaded magazine there’s too much weight above my belt with such a short pistol. Just one more addition to that “bag of holsters I’ll never use again…”. We all have one, right?

If you like We The People I would say get one, and then get the Dremel and a file out

It's something I have done to the non optic holsters I got from them for my Hellcat after adding the RMRcc on a dovetail plate.

Also running a 4.6" with optic. After a ton of research I ordered an Upper Hand OWB, just this morning in fact.

That’s what I am leaning towards.

Let us know how you like it. Seems to be what I am looking for if it does not ride too high.

Do you intend to use a pistol light on your 10mm as well as the optic? I have a Nightstick 850 light (same as Streamlight TLR-1) on my 10mm M&P, and I use a Blackhawk Omnivore. Works great.

I have one but it isn’t one of the big name lights it’s a 1200 lumen amazon light that I’ve been happy with so far. I attach it when it’s by the bedside and remove it when I carry around the property. I would probably never find a holster to fit.

You might check Gunfighters Holsters.

Just had them craft me one for SIG 365XL with red dot.

Quality is very nice and great retention.

Good luck.

I cut the IWB one first and went a little too far, but it works. Having gotten the practice with the first one, the OWB came out perfect.
