I took my son shooting today. He has a Buckmark he shoots. Then, I always let him put a few rounds thru some of my 9mms.

I have shot nothing but my Shield Pluses for the past 8 months (I have a Perf Center 4", Performance Center 3", and a regular 3" one with night sights). He likes to shoot my Glock 19. Out of all my 9mms, he shoots that one the best.

I hadn't shot the G19 in almost a year. After he put some rounds thru it, I thought I would put a few rounds thru it too... Man, that Glock grip angle thru me off after shooting my S&Ws non stop.

On my Combat Master, Taran Tactical recontours the grip. But this was a stock, Gen 5 G19. I've shot bullseyes with it before. But, I would need a trip or two of shooting nothing but the Glock to get a feeling for it again.

I must say, I really prefer the S&Ws. I don't even have to put any effort in to shoot them well... Especially the 4" version...

I had been debating whether or not to give my son my G19 for a while now. Guess what... While cleaning it with me, I made it his. He was very excited. It had around 500 rounds thru it before the trip today, so it is barely used.

Of course, it stays in my safe until he is 21, but it is his now.

I have another G19 coming back from Taran Tactical soon anyway. But, that one will have a recontoured grip, like my first Taran Tactical G34. So, it won't have the traditional Glock grip angle. I don't mind letting him have the stock one.

Agree with the grip angle on the M&P models verses the Glocks. The M&P just fits. Nothing better then spending some range time with family.

I have never had a problem transitioning between the Shield and my G19/26/48, but then I shoot both my Shield and one of my Glocks every trip. I've has a G19 since they 1st came out in'90.

I've always seemed to have a 'Feel' for whichever I pick up (I also have a 1911 and an old P38 that I periodically shoot) and can be in center mass right off, and be on the 'X' within 3 shots.

The Glock grip has always felt more comfortable, but I can Front Pocket Carry my Shield in most of my pants, so the Shield is my daily carry.

Good Man! Shooting with your Son, and passing on a nice weapon to him in the future. Hats off to Ya...

No glocks in this house . I was a well seasoned shooter with normal grip angle handguns before glock came to be in the usa . I carry ether a lw commander 1911 over the years and finally added m&p's to the carry mix in 40sw and still do not carry a 9mm . 40sw and 45 for this old man but I may want a 9mm one day just like I may need a dot optic one day so I do have a m&p 2.0 4" compact with a dot optic on it to practice with If that day ever comes .

MY wife fired her first handguns on our first date 46 years ago and our girls learned as I did , both at started at 6 years of age with a 22lr colt pistol I learned with and both got there CCW at 21 years of age and picked there own handguns for carry after trying many brands and models , All I could barrow besides ours !! We just paid for there handguns and long guns and I load practice ammo for all .
