Now that the 9mm Shield EZ has had a capacity upgrade with the Equalizer, do you think we’ll see a similar upgrade with the .380 ACP models? I would think that those folks attracted to the lighter .380 caliber would also like a higher capacity than the EZ series offer. Of course, the Equalizer also uses Shield Plus magazines so would a new magazine be needed for a .380 Equalizer or could they get away with simply stuffing the slightly shorter .380 in a 9mm magazine and call it good?
Beretta now has their updated 80X Cheetah that is in .380 ACP with an easy to retract slide and light DA trigger with a 13+1 capacity but with a healthy price tag. I would think the lower price of the Equalizer with a similar capacity but in .380 could be a good seller and another option for that market.

Higher capacity for the EZ380 would certainly be attractive to some people.

The typical solution for using shorter 380 rounds in a 9mm magazine is to put a spacer in the back of the magazine.

Below are pictures of some magazines for 380 pistols I have owned that had 9mm counterparts and used 9mm magazines with spacers. (The indentations along the back of the magazines hold the spacers in place.)

The magazines shown and their capacities are: Remington RM380 (6); Ruger LC380 (7); Sig P250 (12), and; Sig P250 (15). While the first two magazines are single stacks, the last two are double stacks, so Shield Plus magazines being double stacks would not inherently be a problem.

Good creative thinking & interesting possibility. A .380 Equalizer would, however, be competing (cutting into sales) of 9mm and the 30 SuperCarry. Only S&W would be able to calculate if the manufacturing co$t$ could offset for a profit. That said, a lot of models are offered in different calibers effectively. Like the elephant said after dumping in the parade: "That remains to be seen" 😉

.380 Bodyguard Max w/double stack Super Carry and a real safety lever.
