Default Shield EZ 9mm question

Hi, I have some friend who is considering the Shield EZ 9mm since they need something that is easy to operate.

The Shield EZ 9mm magazines come with built-in tabs to help with loading. From what I have heard these magazines don't function reliably.

So I am wondering if you could use regular Shield Magazines with the Shield EZ 9mm.

Thanks

The regular Shield mags will not work in an EZ gun but EZ mags function just fine in an EZ gun. When you read this kinda stuff on the internet it is likely someone is just trying to make themselves seem knowledgable and discovered something nobody else knows…

As a 9mm EZ owner, I cannot remember ever reading or hearing about problems with 9mm EZ magazines. However, my wife has a 380 EZ and many owners have had problems with 380 magazines stovepiping. (see this search)

No, Shield magazines cannot be used in the EZ.

The only thing problem I have with my 9ez is that i keep running out of ammo.. haven't had a malfunction or fail to feed in well over 1000 rounds..

Love my EZ Shield (9mm), and have had zero issues with the gun or the mags. The gun is a pleasure to shoot, has a nice trigger, and is easy to manipulate. Same for the mags being easy to load, their design with the button similar to rimfire mags.

I believe I have read about some owners here with mag issues but those seemed to have been the 380 version.

My EZ9 function just as they should with the factory magazines. Regular Shields do not work in the EZ.
I use a UpLula magazine loader to load almost all my magazines, I don't use the tabs, however they do make it easier to load the magazines.

My Shield mag wouldn't fit my EZ.

I have a post in the M&P about a mag modification I had to make.

I believe regarding the EZ 9 magazines being unreliable you've heard wrong.

My wife has both the .380 EZ and 9mm EZ, and between them she's fired roughly 4700 rounds.

It's the .380 EZ magazines that have proven unreliable, whereas the 9mm magazines have provided perfect reliability.

One thing she doesn't like about the 9mm version is that unlike the .380 and every other handgun we own (and we are both shooting enthusiasts) you can't release the slide with the slide stop, and have to use the slide itself.

But as I said, the 9mm EZ magazines have been solid performers.

The EZ9 has had no magazine issues from what I've seen here and on other forums.

The 380EZ has been more finicky. There is some evidence that the mags are the issue. The flat topped mag follower has come under suspicion, as have the springs that make loading so easy. That said, S&W fixed one member's gun by changing the barrel. We have a 380EZ in the stable here, and (touch wood) it has been 100% reliable.
