Exclamation M& 5.7 Reliability and Accuracy

Does anyone have experience or opinions on the reliability and accuracy of the S&W M&P 5.7 pistol? Does it need a red dot for distance beyond 50 yards? I was thinking of getting one for 50 yard plus shooting. Thanks.

I have a Holosun 507K on mine. I find it much easier to shoot that way than with irons. I am older and wear glasses, so the optic really helps a lot, and it is much quicker to get on target regardless of the distance. With regard to reliability, I have not had any problems with mine, but I have read a lot of warnings online about dry firing breaking firing pins. There don’t see to be any replacement parts available at the big parts houses like Brownells, MGW, and MidwayUSA. My only complaint about the pistol is the firing pin block plunger is plastic so it can’t be polished like the stainless steel ones on the other M&Ps, so there is no way to get rid of the draggy/gritty feel in the takeup. After you get through that, the pull is a nice crisp 4lbs.

Did you need an adapter plate for that sight?
I have the 22mag and 5.7.
The 407a3 x2 wouldn't fit on the 5.7
