Plastic dry wall anchors work perfectly in the 22LR version and they are readily available and cheap. I see no reason why they wouldn't work as well in the 22 WMR version.

So how do you use them , thay wont go thru the magazine will they? Do you use each one only once.. or do you turn them ?

Just insert the plastic anchor directly into the chamber. I've never had any luck cycling them through the magazine. Dry firing a striker fired 22 pistol is a bit of a pain in the rear, since you have to cycle the slide to reset/cock the striker and cycling the action is going to result in the dummy/anchor being extracted and ejected. So having several dummies/anchors on hand to manually "reload" into the chamber will speed up the reset. The plastic anchors can be reused several times (try to avoid placing the previous impact point on the rim in the "strike zone" again), but keep an eye on the edges/rims. This description will immediately become clear after you have done it a time or two. When they become too damaged, discard them. The same goes for all 22LR/22WMR dummies. The biggest advantage for using the plastic drywall anchors is they are relatively cheap compared to dedicated dummy rounds.

Although you should not drop the slide onto a round that is in the chamber as that can damage an extractor, with drywall anchors, being plastic, it will not hurt the extractor.

Take it to the range, save some of your brass and just put one in to cushion the firing pin. Use something like Green nail polish or whatever color you want so YOU KNOW it is an empty brass cartridge. You could even, carefully, crimp down the end of the brass case and they might even be able to cycle from a magazine when you rack the slide to reengage the trigger

I ordered some shap caps off ebay, specific for .22Mag along with some for .22LR. On my M&P 22mag I can retract the slide just a little and not eject the snap cap and it rechambers fine, or load several in the mag and fully cycle them through.
