If you were going to buy a Bodyguard 2.0 today, what would you check?

It seems that a few buyers have some in common issues.
I believe that it is just a relative few Bodyguard 2.0's that have these issues. That is when the number being sold nationwide is considered. What would you check before buying a new Bodyguard 2.0?

1. Ridge on the lower feed ramp.
2. Slide return spring that has slipped over the shaft.
3. Possibly mis-aligned slide rails.
4. Mis-aligned sights. Not really an issue for me since that is an easy fix. Plus, factory sights are being replaced even factory is installed perfectly.

What else? Things like different caliber, longer barrel, color of finish are not even going to be considered. We all know what we are buying so only factory defects will matter.
Thanks!!!

Mine is going back due to a dent on the barrel crown under the finish. If you are buying one bring a magnifying glass. Oh and I have to send the entire gun back and current wait time is 4-6 weeks .. I’m glad the shareholders got the cheap labor rates in TN

Let’s not forget the faulty follower in some of the 12-round mags. As others have mentioned here, it’s a quick and easy fix, just like most of these defects.

Or shop for something else.

Probably the best option. I've never thought about buying one, as I have two .380 ACP pistols that work perfectly. With all I have read on this forum, the S&W Bodyguard 2.0 seems to be a problem-riddled pistol.

The LCP max despite rattling like a spray paint can has been incredibly reliable .. zero issues .. should have bought a second one. The Tennessee made S&Ws are hot garbage

I've got one of the first editions of the Bodyguard 2.0 and it has been flawless. The only change I've made is the sights and it's one of the best choices I've ever made and one the most fun guns too. I can hit 8" plates at 25 yards about half the time and all the time at 15 yards. The smaller rear sight opening really helps and doesn't slow down my target acquisition a bit.

I think that there are about 25 Bodyguard 2.0's that are bad.
It is just that they are all being reported on this forum.
If someone would go back and count how many reports there are of troubles, it would be appreciated.

agksimon posts that his/her sample is flawless. That is probably closer to the norm than getting a troubled on. Few people report good news.

One would think (I guess I will be that one) if there were 25 bad ones out of the number sold that if you sent it in to be fixed they would just send you a new one instead of sending back the one you sent in that still has the problem saying there is nothing wrong with it.
Maybe they don't want to send a new one as the odds are that one won't work either.

I know there are more than 25 bad ones. Mine has the goofy follower that sticks on the 3rd round. But, I also know many are flawless.

And me knowing this does not help anyone who gets a lemon.
That is why I would find a shopping list of problems to look for when buying a new one. At least those that may be identified at the gun store.
be looking for?
What else should a new buyer

I've got one that I shoot low and left. Note I did not say the gun shoots low left. I do. I know this because I've shot it off a bench and it shoots to the sights. I've also shot it a few thousand times using a laser bullet, and it shoots that to the sights. It's only when stand up on my back legs and shoot it that it shoots low/left. The same as I do with a lot of small handguns (like the Ruger LCP/Maxx). Well all small handguns to be honest. Move up to a EZ or a Shield size gun, and not so much. I'm still not a great shot but I miss more consistently all over the target.

The magazines were hard to load at first. So I used a magazine loader. I had one in my range bag anyway and have since I bought my first Glock about 20 years ago. A lot of new guns have difficult to load magazines. I can load them without the mag loader now if I want to, but I don't want to, so I keep using the loader.

The slide was difficult to rack at first. As a matter of fact when I first tried it at the store, I thought it was broken. Nope. Just stiff. Either it got better, or I got stronger because I don't think of it anymore.

I have trouble with it feeding one brand of ammo. A 95 grain HP Fiocchi (sp?) that will jam about one round per mag. So I don't use that ammo. Close examination shows the bullet seems to be not seated quite as deeply as the other ammo I use, so it get's used in my 380 EZ without a problem. I've never bothered to measure it, so it's just an eyeball observation.

With all those "problems" I don't carry it. I just don't shoot it well enough to suit me, and I've several other options so I don't worry about it. I'll keep shooting it with the laser and with live ammo and hopefully I'll figure it out. I am better with it now, than I was at first.

Good assessment. I carried a Glock on duty for a decade and always shot low and left during qualification. I had great instructors who told me why I did that. So, I know it was me. But, I would never admit it on a gun forum.

That "rattling" is the somewhat looser tolerances which is probably why its WAY more reliable than the BG is proving to be for some. I own both. I'd trust the Max to go off every time. Not the BG.

I have the LCP Max and the Bodyguard 2.0 and both have been 100% reliable. The BG 2.0 is far easier to control and more accurate during rapid fire because of the higher grip purchase and much better trigger. The LCP Max is going away soon.

From first grasp of its grip I was sold on the B/G 2.0.

It’s ergonomics, low bore axis and lock breach design gives it a soft almost.22 LR. recoil which leads to great accuracy.

And the genius design of its 10 & 12 round magazines is off the hook. When first held it I said no way this is not a single stack.

The slide was noticeable stiff when new but considering what’s being asked of all that’s crammed into it was understandable. After 400 + rounds, it’s much easier to manipulate.

The only issue I initially had was the magazines follower leg jamming into the slide lock hole in its side. It was easily and quickly resolved by the use of a pair of nail clippers.

Apparently the factory has resolved this issue in house on the currently issued guns.

It is like the wild reports of the 40 shield blowing up. It was one gun cross posted 100 times.....
