I went to Wal-Mart and picked up one of those Blackhawk bipods but I couldn't figure out how to mount it. I figured it was not the right kind of mount style. Any help will be greatly appreciated.

We do bench rest rifle shoots every month at the gun club and I cant really get a good height with any consistency using the bags. I want something I can reproduce over and over. Some of the guys use bipods.

Any recommendations for a bipod would be appreciated as well. If I have to change the hand-guard, then so be it.

Prolly the best thing to do is replace it with a magpul front handguard for about $35. That way you can not only add a rail for a bipod easily, but also add rails for a light also.

Just a thought.

Yeah, I am thinking about going that route. Is it an easy install. Do I have to mess with the gas block or anything?

I bought a drop in quad rail from damage industries (damageusa.com) which was recommended by someone else from this forum. It was $89.95. Fit tight but dropped right in. Then I added centerpoint laser/light combo (found at walmart for $49.95), a centerpoint 4-16x50 mm scope and a foregrip/bipod. Sited in and looking sweet.

Yeah, its pretty easy. Just make sure to read the instructions. I had a friend that tried replacing one on his gun and he tried for several hours. Finally he called me and asked me how to do it. I asked him if he read the instructions to which he sheepishly replied that he did not. Once he read them, it was about 5 minutes.
He was trying to install the bottom part first, then the top part. Once he got that right, he was good to go.
