MP 15 Sport black colored end plate
Hey, this is my first post. I'm a proud owner of an MP 15 Sport and I was curious to why my sport pictured below on the bottom has a shiny more black tone to the end plate and castle nut, rather than the more common gray matte color as the one pictured above it. Is it a trend just for the newer sports? I guess my blacker one seems to go along with the "black rifle" theme, however it kinda bugs that its out of the ordinary. What do you all think?

It's just a different shade on the batch of end plates that S&W sourced for the production run. It's fine. Looks like the finish on the new 15-Sports are more uniform. On my early 15-Sport the finish isn't even. Some surface on there upper receiver look darker. The finish on the upper receiver and lower receiver definitely don't match 100%.
Does it bother me? Nope. As long as my 15-Sport functions, I'm a happy camper.

Could be melonite finish?
I just bought an IWC QD end plate. CNC machined from billet steel with a deep black melonite finish.

It's just the way that batch came out, not to worry. Let me use a line I used in another thread, focus on the sights, not on the color difference and you'll love your Sport.
Good Luck and good shooting.

True. Wondering though what your guys' opinion is on which color scheme looks better. Would you prefer the dark black shiny or gray matte for your AR?

Personally, I like the black. On the other hand, on my rifle, it wouldn't make much difference as I've changed the furniture to FDE making it a two tone anyway.
