Ordered an Ambi Lower from Aero Precision, one of the few companies that offers a ambi bolt catch AND release for a reasonable price - took a few weeks but it arrive today so I threw it together tonight. Put my S&W Upper on it without any issues, which is to be expected :). Here's a couple pics, it's essentially a standard Forged lower, 45* compatable, and pre-milled for the Tango blue Ambi PDQ lever. You can also buy only the lever and dremel out your lower, but no way was I sectioning my M&P lol.

First impression, out of the box it had a few minor marks in the finish, nothing dramatic, and to be honest the first time I take it out and shoot it will likely get worse wear, but new out of the plastic you expect it to be pretty clean.

I've read of some having issue with AO lowers and certain aftermarket triggers, I run a Geissele and did get a bit of finish peening around the forward trigger hole, now whether it is the result of a slightly tight trigger pin hole or a slightly larger Geissele pin, I don't know. It doesn't seem to be affecting anything and I don't have any binding or anything, but will keep an eye on it.

Everything else went in just as it should. It's a bit sloppier fit to the upper than I had hoped, but that's an industry-wide deal, not an AO issue. I may drill and tap for a tension screw, or I may just keep using an o-ring on the front takedown pin as I did before with my old lower.

So, Aero Ambi Lower, S&W 15T upper, Various Ambi bits n pieces, and parts from Colt, POF, etc. Action runs good, Right Side Bolt Catch/Release is solid and easy to engage/disengage (beats the heck out of any BAD Lever, imo), safety check is all good. So far so good, hope to get out to the range this weekend and run a couple hundred rounds through it :).

Sounds like a fun project. I've got a couple 80% polymer lowers I'm going to mill out and build over the winter. I think I'll try to fit that bolt catch to one.

When I bought my AR I just bought an ambi safety selector and mag release. Being right handed and left eye dominate can make for interesting shooting. :-)

Yep I am the same way. I find with a red dot I generally don't have issues with my right eye, but if shooting scoped/long range or iron sights left eye is still better for me.
